The place is nice, the food is not and the services is bad. I through this restaurant closed up. Oh and the price is not cheap.

Food was delicious. A nice twist on classic New Orleans fare. Service was amazing. One of those restaurant experiences where the wait staff knows the menu and wine list inside out and their recommendations are spot on.

We went here to eat after visiting the casino. The service was very slow even though there were not many people there. We had to send back our onion stings appetizer because it was cold. Food was ok.

It's been months since we were in New Orleans but we still talk about the Mussels Encocado that we had there. It is by far, the best mussels dish we've ever had. The coconut broth was perfection! We had such a good time. What a find :)

Enjoyed a nice happy hour at the bar 2 weeks ago. Great prices on wine, cocktails and ceviche. While talking up the owner, we found out that Saturday, August 2 was to be their last evening as Rio Mar. They had plans to resurface, but weren't entirely sure of when, what format, or where. I wish them a speedy return.

Went with a date, didn't realize it was White Linen, which we made reservations but due to traffic, construction, and white linen we were 30 mins late, but they seemed to be ok with it. When we went to be seated the hostess wanted to seat us right as you walk in the entrance at a two top next to... More

This was my third time in this restaurant that is located in the Warehouse District an easy walk from most hotel surrounding the Convention Ctr. It has character but the brick walls and concrete floor create a very loud environment, so to me it will not be a very good place for a business meeting but a great one for... More

Loved my visit to Rio Mar. I come to New Orleans a lot. This was my first time coming to Rio Mar, and it was great. I will definitely be coming back. It is a New Orleans spin on Spanish cuisine! Great great menu!

From a food perspective, there are many great restaurants in New Orleans. But a consistent problem with many is that they don't take noise levels into consideration. Hard surfaces from floor to ceiling make pleasant--or any--conversation impossible. And so it is with Rio Mar. The seafood has a creative South American flare. Interesting ingredients such as fresh figs, cilantro and... More

Staying in Arts District / Warehouse District

Neighborhood Profile
Arts District / Warehouse District
Once a thriving industrial zone, today this district is home to a buzzing arts scene with an amazing assortment of galleries, boutiques, and studios having moved in and set up shop throughout the disused warehouses for which the area is so well known. Much of the art you'll come across here is local in scope, ownership and inspiration. However, among the many old brick warehouses are modern structures of steel and glass housing large-scale cultural institutions of national prominence such as the National World War II Museum, the Contemporary Arts Center, and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. Just as eye catching as what’s on view inside the galleries and museums is the chance to see your ship come in at the Julia Street Cruise Terminal, which serves as a wistful reminder of the city’s historic maritime prominence.
