We're locals and have eaten here many times over the last 15 years. They are very consistent and good. I have to say, their fish taco is the best I've had anywhere short of Baja California. I crave them at times.

Ordered shrimp, tongue and ribeye tacos and they were perfect. Service is extremely quick and friendly. Great college town fare and perfect quick feed for families. Don't miss!

With it called a taqueria I walked in thinking it was a taqueria; it's really not, it's a restaurant. But hey, that's okay. I was pleasantly surprised with the food. First, the margarita was excellent , but a bit small. Strangely, chips and salsa are not freely placed on the table, but must be requested and charged. We decided to... More

Three of us had dinner here. My daughter had several complaints --- too much cheese, not that good; my husband wasn't impressed. I thought it was okay.

I've picked up from Taqueria Corona about 3 times now. It's our go-to spot for take out Mexican. Admittedly, we haven't found a lot of good Mexican restaurants in Uptown. Go figure. We order mostly the fish tacos which are respectable. In fact, it's the only taco that we have liked from Taqueria Corona. The carne asada is pretty pathetic.... More

We went to Taqueria to celebrate my son's birthday. I must have expected too much from reading many of the previous reviews. Although the food was good and the margaritas were delicious, I was not as impressed as I expected. The grilled onion appetizer was ok, nothing special. The portions are generous on the no. 1 and no. 2 dinners.... More

I have been eating here since the late 1980s, I brought my nieces and nephews here regularly when I was in college, and now I bring my children and they love it too! Yes, there are no free chips and salsa, never has been, but the prices are low so what is the big deal? Order the chips with pico... More

I can't fault the service and friendly attitude of the staff at this restaraunt. Unfortunately the food was not great. I had the fajitas, the plate came filled with chicken but only 3 wraps and not enough sour cream to even put on one. My friend had the chicken Tacos and was also disappointed. Although he told me he has... More

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighborhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
