We ate at Herbsaint for lunch and the food was good. Not great, but very good. I am obviously not as enchanted with the restaurant as the Times-Picayune food critic is, but we did enjoy it. We began with the housemade spaghetti and fried oysters. For the entrees, we had the fried catfish and chicken. All four were very good... More

We had a reservation for 10 last night and the waitress was great. The menu had a lot of good looking dishes and also some specials. I had the swordfish which was the special and it came with sweet potato puree, greens, and asparagus. It was filling. I had a Sazerac before dinner and the bartender hit out of the... More

We went to Herbsaint because we received a gift certificate...but it was far beyond what we expected. Herbsaint has great selections for the very hungry to the lighter side. The food was served hot in a timely manor. We ordered their lentil soup, the lamb lasagna and lighter side shrimp with pasta. Everything was perfectly seasoned and of high quality... More

I dined here with a large group of family members, and I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. We had several foodies with us who are notorious for sending food back or finding fault, and amazingly everyone enjoyed their meal here. In fact, we all agreed it was the best meal we've had in New Orleans. Definitely try... More

Very nice personnel, interesting and varied menu, good wine choices... but when I got my main plate, it was just warm, not well enough heated (?). The dessert was just the opposite: excellent café-ice cream with a perfect piece of cake.

I often order what is safe, but this visit I got an appetizer that seemed a bit unusual! It turned out to be one of the best tastes I have ever experienced! It was beef served slightly cooler than room temperature with capers, anchovy paste and a balsamic drizzle and I think I little Parmesan cheese. It was to die... More

Herbsaint on St. Charles… “French and Italian-inspired, yet distinctive Southern dishes and a dynamic wine list in a modern bistro setting”…. says their website. I have been waiting probably a year or more to finally set foot in Herbsaint that I continually heard raves of. Chef Donald Link is an amazing chef and very successful restaurateur also owning Pesche on... More

The atmosphere was great. The food was terrific. We went during bistro hours so the menu was limited, but still a variety to choose from. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. They were very familiar with the EXTENSIVE wine list and paired them terrifically.

We were gallery hopping and asked for a recommendation for lunch. Herbsaint was a good choice. I had the fried oysters and my husband had the cat fish. Both were very good. The service was friendly and proficient and the overall ambiance is very pleasant.

Another MUST restaurant in New Orleans! Went for lunch and had the grilled tuna sandwich and the flourless chocolate cake....both excellent!

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
