I had been reading reviews before we went to Cafe Degas, and thought I had decided what I would eat. However, when we got there, the specials menu had so many more choices, that I got distracted. I normally LOVE soft shell crab, but their version was not very good. The batter was heavy and not seasoned. Thankfully, my husband... More

We got into NOLA late and were looking for a place to eat. We apparently didn't look like we belonged, because the waiter looked down his nose at us. He finally seated us in the back corner of the room. We were "overlooked" by all of the waiters and never did get our order taken. We finally left and went... More

Been wanting to come here! Onion soup was awesome as well as escargot!!! I ordered small plate of lamb and spinach ravioli. It was not my favorite. But tasted others hanger and veal chop and it was delicious!!! Wish I would have had time and room for dessert!!!! I will go back!!!

Four of us dined here and enjoyed the great Prix Fixe menu and a discount on wine. We started with our waiter's recommendation (from the regular menu) the Le Ravioli which was sparerib the night we dined. The ravioli came with a lemony sauce, it was surprisingly good with the beef, you always think of fish with lemon... We all... More

They have a Prix Fixe meal that is well worth the price. I had a potato leek vichyssoise for an appetizer, pork loin with wild mushrooms and a lemon icebox cake for dessert. Nom Nom

My wife and I came here to celebrate my birthday while on vacation from the UK. We were received in a brusque and impersonal manner and placed at a table in the midst of a gangway. Our server confused obsequiousness with good service: gushing and fawning whilst at the table but otherwise inattentive. The mussels I had as an appetiser... More

This charming long-time favorite is a beautiful place to enjoy brunch. Eat on the porch overlooking the sidewalk and be surrounded by lush greenery; the fish with asparagus, mushrooms, and lemon beurre blanc was the best thing I ate during my entire trip. Walk it off by strolling over to the New Orleans Museum of Art afterwards.

We attended this splendid N'Awlins restaurant treasury recently on a Friday after a niece's graduation from UNO as a Physical Therapist. The food and service noted below were superb, including the Mimosas and Beer - see my notes below. As an aside, I have passed Cafe Degas many times (but had not gone to) when attending the annual Crescent City... More

This is a lovely, neighborhood cafe near City Park. We were here for Sunday lunch/brunch. Four of us shared the large cheese, pate, and charcuterie board - deliciously served with fig mustard, cornichons, dates, grapes, and the meats and cheeses. Then 2 of us had the corned beef with poached eggs, one had the omlette with petite salade, and one... More
