Everyone sits around the bar on stools, so kind of close together! The food was very good. Wonderful omelet!! Great hamburger and onion rings! The gentleman who was our server was delightful!

This place has been a New Orleans standard for many years. The food is good as is the service. It is so popular that a wait for a seat should be expected. The UNexpected part of the experience is interaction with the entire staff. You can end up joking with one of the cooks as readily as with the wait... More

Chocolate pecan pie and banana creme pie are to die for! Long wait but worth it! Went to the one in Garden District first and French Quarter second...Garden District is better!

It has been about 29 years since my last visit to Nola. One of the lasting memories I had was our visit to camellia grill. First thing on my list was a return to this nostalgic gem. Took the street car from hotel and made our way to the original location. We managed to avoid the long lines by arriving... More

This restaurant was recommended to us, so we boarded the St. Charles Streetcar in the French Quarter and hiked to the end of the line for breakfast. So glad we did! Small diner with counter seating only, and when we arrived at 9:30am on Friday, we were ahead of a small line that formed behind us. It is very popular,... More

A little grill that's been cranking out good breakfast, lunch, and dinner for 80 yrs. A lot of character, but you may have to wait in line, it only seats about 25 at a time. Worth a 20 min wait, but not much longer.

A great place for breakfast. Their omelets are huge, and the food is delicious. When we got there, the line was out the door.

The atmosphere of this restaurant is great. It is a friendly diner with cheap but great food, and the waiters give you a fist bump as soon as you sit down. There is limited seating, so I would recommend not going at the most popular times, but it is worth the wait. You can have breakfast for dinner which is... More

We took a large group on a field trip by Street Car for breakfast and had so much fun here talking to locals and the staff. The breakfast was down home great, the coffee good and the local charm endearing. You have to take what you get at this all counter diner, but it is great!

This place was highly recommended, but we were disappointed. I thought the food was pretty good, but not great. My wife ordered an omelet without ham, but when she got it there was ham in it. We sent it back and they were very nice about it. However, the 2nd omelet came up, and there was ham in half of... More

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighborhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
