Took the trolley through the garden district to grab a bite here. It was awesome. The no longer are affiliated with the one in the quarter so that threw me off. Not a crazy wait This visit and that was good. Had a burger and cheese fries the burger was amazing but I didn't care for the fries

Was here about 30 years ago and it really looked run down. The stools looked like they needed to be replaced. The omelette we had which came with the hash browns was good. The counters were not real clean looking and my friend noticed several health code violations while our meal was being cooked. Cashier was too busy on her... More

I really enjoy hanging out at the diner bar and having a sandwich or omelet. The place feels like you stepped back in time. The food is quality diner food, but this is a total experience.

I cannot believe I am writing a review such as this in the 21st century, I really wanted to write this as a review of terrible customer service, but I as a middle aged man and have traveled extensively can tell if there is prejudice, Well I will share the story as I stated the escalation, my spouse and I... I came here to eat dinner with my daughter and three of her friends who are all Freshman at Tulane. We rode the St Charles streetcar a mike or so from campus. It stops right in front. It's an authentic diner atmosphere and the food is what you would expect from a diner. It was all very tasty and reasonably... More

We loved Camellia's. You may have to wait outside the entry door to be seated. Tip: Get their folded paper menu and study it while you wait. It's a busy place, forget leisurely perusing the menu once inside. You will miss the action behind the counter if your attention on the menu. An unspoken system is in place - first... More

First, Camellia Grill is an "institution" for us. We have been dining there for decades, and missed them, post-K. It is a funky, quirky little diner-style restaurant, on the St. Charles Ave streetcar line, immediately after it turns away from the River, onto S. Carrollton Ave, heading to S. Claiborne and the "end of the line." One waits in line,... More

We are hoping that it was just an off day because our memories of this NOLA staple were much fonder then our recent experience. What we expected and what we got this time around just didn't add up. The staff, much like the omelettes we got, seemed deflated! Not their typical lively selves. They were a bit cold and bored... More

Probably the highlight of my trip to NOLA was our breakfast at The Camelia Grill. We took the St. Charles Streetcar through the Garden District and enjoyed the beautiful houses and views of New Orleans along the way. We waited in a short line and were seated at the counter. Yes, all their seats are counter seats so get over... More

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighborhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
