To get there, take a trolley car, you will need to walk about a block to get to the restaurant but well worth it. The scenery is amazing as you pass the most beautiful homes. The food was delicious. I love dirty martinis, they were perfect. Staff was very friendly.

This restaurant is incredible. Everything we had was different and prepared to perfection. The butternut crab bisque was creamy and delicious. The bbq shrimp had a delicious thick bbq sauce. The creole tomato salad had the sweetest tomato I have tasted. We also had the seafood sampler that had many different fish and shellfish all prepared wonderfully by the excellent... More

Service, food and atmosphere were amazing. We decided at the last minute to have dinner here, the weather was so so so hot and we had to walk there, totally worth it despite the heat. From the first bite to the last were delicious, I had scallops and grits appetizer, veal parm, and the lemon creme brulee for dessert. It... More

A great restaurant with quiet environment and great food. In an old house - service was great and attentive. We had spicy shrimp as an appetiser - spicy but not hot. Entrees included soft-shelled crab (just enough batter and well seasoned), blackened tuna, and veal - all good. Desert was pecan pies which was fantastic.

This might be my favorite restaurant in the world. Frank Brigtsen works magic in the kitchen. Setting in old shotgun house is inviting. Service is attentive, knowledgable and friendly. But the food is the reason to go. Do yourself a favor.

Our server didn't introduce herself just wanted to know if we want cocktails or not.. then set a meal in front of me that the table next to us had ordered. Our guess had ordered a cocktail and salad which was set in front of me once again. Once our food arrived it taste blan, the haricot verts was so... More

I had the pleasure of having dinner here when I was in town for a conference, but had a day to hang out with a relative, who is a local, for the day before the conference started. We were greeted at the door by the chef, which is not something I think I've ever experienced anywhere else! Seriously, he wasn't... More

Brigtsen's i located far away from the city centre, in a nice neighborhood, easily reachable by streetcar. Small rooms with enough place for all the guests, and the opportunity to sit somewhat private. Very good food, good cocktails, and excellent service. Definitely worth a visit.

Although nice atmosphere in a converted house near the river, the food just doesn't justify the prices. There are so many other restaurants in N.O. that are so much better. Our waitress gave us "that look" when we didn't order cocktails, like "i can just see the tip going down". We won't be back.

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighborhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
