Everything at CP was first rate. We celebrated family birthday and everyone had wonderful experience. Only wish we had been able to dine during Sunday brunch to enjoy love music! The very highest level of table service but never intrusive. Salad with grapefruit and avocado was amazing. Bisque was divine. Bread pudding soufflé was good. Strawberry shortcake was awesome.

We were recommended to go to this place by at least 3 different parties, so we had pretty high expectations. We even packed an extra set of more formal clothes and shoes for this. Unfortunately it didn’t really live up to the hype… the food was decent, not very healthy, some of it too salty. Our favorite was the bread... More

Located in the Garden district off Washington. Just down the street from Layfayette Cemetery no. 1. All the famous New Orleans chefs got their starts here. If you want to eat here make a reservation. You will need to dress appropriately. I hear they have an excellent Jazz brunch. Expect a good sized bill at the end.

Been before, will go again, it is the NO spot! A party of 4, everyone else had an excellent meal. I ordered the veal dish and it was so tough it was inedible. They were so busy that the server didn't show up until everyone else was done with their meal so I didn't wish to send my entree back... More

As soon as you made your plane reservation, pick up the phone and reserve a table at Commander's Palace. I have eaten at many great restaurants (The French Laundry, Jean George, Charley trotters, etc,)' and I assure you this rates with the best. The food is wonderful. The service is impeccable. The decor is nicely done. Do yourself a favor... More

Service was a little off at the beginning, it just took too long to be shown the menus and get a drink. But things definitely improved. My steak was $42 but it was huge and perfectly cooked. The creme brûlée was the second best I have eaten (top spot goes to the French Bistro at the Paris Hotel in Vegas)... More

Went to lunch day after Christmas as our annual visit to Commander's. This is the best lunch value in the City. You can have a 3 course meal for $ 50.00 served by the best wait staff around. Great food. Service today was a little off, probably due to being the day after Christmas. It was a little slow and... More

What a start to 2015 with NY Day lunch at Commander's , the tables so festive and the musicians traveling table to table, . Some of the best service, friendly, unpretentious I have experienced. As a former server in my youth and mother of a fine dining server/bartender I recognize exceptional service. :-) The turtle soup was wonderful and the... More

It was 15 years since my wife and I visited Commander's Palace. I remembered it as one of the best meals we had in New Orleans but we thought it was too cliche to revisit this time. Then a local recommended it as one of their favorites, especially for lunch where they serve 25 cent martinis. What? Surely this was... More

We have always wanted to eat at Commander's Palace, and we finally got our chance...My family and I are from Atlanta, and we are used to having the opportunity to experience wonderful food from around the world. Commander's Palace is more than a fine dining establishment--it is a fine dining experience from start to finish. It is one of those... More

Commander's Palace welcomes everyone but we do have a dress code. It's a festive atmosphere! Shorts are never allowed. Inventive modern New Orleans cooking coexists with our Haute Creole. Sense the team's professional grace clothed in the warmth of the Brennan Family's brand of hospitality. From your first sip of a Sazerac to your last crumb of bread pudding soufflé, we hope you are pampered and delighted...and go ahead be a little bad...that's what living in New Orleans is all about.

Staying in Garden District

Neighborhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
