We ate here ten years ago and we were delighted to find out it was on the same block as our vacation rental this visit. We made a Saturday night reservation and thought it might not be crowded because it was pouring rain. It was packed but we only had to wait 10 minutes to be seated There are three... More

If you can't snag a reservation, go early and sit in the bar, order some drinks and listen to the wonderful piano player. We were seated within the hour and were proceeded to be completely blown away by the food set before us. We shared a caprese salad (it was still normal sized) and every single component of the salad... More

The cuisine is excellent, one of the best meals I have ever had. I called when we were stuck in traffic and they said they would hold the table for 15 minute more only! Kind of an uppity attitude, but all was well in the end. My duck was superb as was my husband's chicken entrée. They gave us some... More

Ate dinner at Irene's on 5/17/17 by recommendation from lafittes guest house employees who told me it was outstanding. I had the mussels marinara and my wife had the soft shell crab appetizers. Then for my main dish I had the lasagne and my wife had the seafood rigatoni. With one word I can describe the food, service and ambiance. OUTSTANDING.... More

I dined there about a week ago, my first time with friends for whom it was a repeat visit. They followed the smell of garlic to find it for their first visit. Marinara garlic mussels are a possible source of the garlic aroma, delicious, tender, not at all rubbery. Whole red snapper was moist yet well cooked. Paul was our... More

This restaurant serves wonderful food. The lamb chops are luscious as well as their lasagna. They serve a complimentary bruschetta which was delicious. Cesar salad was fresh and tasty. Save room for dessert. The cheesecake is to die for! If you call and they don't have reservations, not to worry. They keep tables for walk ins. The service was professional... More

This is one of my favorite places in the city. The food and service are always amazing, a trip to New Orleans just wouldn't be the same without a dinner at Irene's . Order something they have as a special you wont be disappointed!

When I visited this restaurant without a reservation I thought I would hate the long wait. We were seated in a really cozy wait area with live music and excellent bar service. It was so worth the wait. The food was delicious. I will go back!

In a break from the over hyped local cuisine, we were enchanted by the food. The ambiance of this diamond in the rough was beyond words and the food was divine. Highly recommended.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
