Irene's was highly recommended to us by a couple we met walking down the street who live in NOLA, part-time. We loved it and it was in the Top 2 restaurants out of all the places we ate. The staff really made our experience, from...the maître 'd to our excellent, friendly waiter (his name escapes me, but he is Italian and his last name comes from where olives are grown in Sicily). We loved the food - Crab gratin, cheesecake, ossobuco and filet (in that ranked order!) We would definitely return.More

One of the finest culinary experience ever. Even in the face of COVID adversity, Irene’s delivered magnificent fare in an incredibly welcoming and charming environment. The instant report with our server became like a reunion with a long lost friend. Take your time and absorb...the character.More

We had the most delightful experience at Irene's last night. Our reservation wasn't until 9:15, so the diners around us were well into their evening when we were seated in the front room. It so happened that there were two tables of regulars surrounding us,...and our amazing server, Daniel, wasted no time introducing us. Menu recommendations ensued from all parties, as well as two "must try" desserts. We felt the welcome wagon had been deployed to take special care of the new kids in town. In regard to the food, the soft shell crab was really good, and the meatballs were AMAZING. We also had the lamb in the most divine port reduction sauce and the seafood pasta. In regard to the aforementioned desserts, the strawberry cheesecake may have been the best I've ever had. We will 100% be back on our next trip!More

Upon our arrival, we were ushered to a type of waiting area again. This seems to be a covid thing in NOLA since I have not seen it in other cities like DC or LA. We began our evening with a bottle of Amarone and...great conversation with our server, Sean, who is also sommelier. I ordered the spinach and ricotta ravioli for an app and my husband had the roasted garlic and eggplant soup. Both were scrumptious. Here comes the crazy part —- I don’t like olives. I know- many people think I’m crazy. So, if a dish has olives in it, I usually avoid it. This time I didn’t and am so glad. The chicken rosemary tastes divine even though it has olives. Imagine my surprise ! Haha. The chicken, is cut into 5 pieces (bone in) and is a lot of work for the amount you get from it, but it’s so very good since it is marinated overnight. My husband had the lamb and he loved it so much I was only able to have one bite of it as he couldn’t get enough of it. Dessert was delicious and the restaurant has a wonderful ambience. We are so glad this was one of our places we ate while in NOLA.More

We had heard about Irene’s several years ago, but this was our first visit. I had a soft-shell crab as an appetizer and the Duck as my entre. My wife had a Caprese Salad and a grilled red fish with a soft-shell crab on top....The food was good. Service was generally good, but then it got a little odd. After we had finished our entrees and the dishes had been cleared the table was a mess. I was surprised that no one had wiped it off. I asked the waiter to do so. He seemed resentful that I had asked and did a very half-hearted effort to clean it. The table was still unacceptably messy by my standards. We decided to just skip dessert because I did not want to eat at a messy table. This was a very odd ball experience for us. Oh well, we got a dessert at Windsor Court and all is well. New Orleans is on our annual rotation. Irene’s will be on the occasional list for New Orleans.More

You will not go wrong with any choice on the menu here - in fact, it is hard to decide! Service was excellent - Michael and Stephanie tag teamed and were fantastic. The complimentary bruchetta was a nice way to start our meal. Our appetizer...was the Crab Gratin - it had chunks and hunks of crab in it. So good. The Caprese Salad I had was the best ever - the tomatoes were roasted and the basil pesto and pine nuts were a great added touch. The Osso Buco was good and the accompanying risotto was outstanding. My husband had the duck and he said it was excellent. We were speaking with other customers who were regulars and they highly recommended the Chicken dish. But there were so many wonderful choices! I went with the Osso because I was in the mood for a red wine - but I will have to return to try the chicken. And other things too!More

Our dinner at Irene’s might have been the best we’ve ever had in New Orleans. We went there for the lamb on the menu, my husband’s favorite. I chose the duck. Both selections were superb! Our waiter, Robert, was excellent. His recommendations were spot on,...as to drinks and the melt-in-your mouth cheesecake for dessert. I highly recommend Irene’s, for couples who want a special night out.More

Piano bar, yes. Not intrusive, particularly in other dining rooms. Very nice background. You could choose to sit in the piano bar or not. Ask when you call for reservations.
