My wife and I took our son and his wife for no special reason. We had dined there several years ago and had good memories. This time it was even better. The hostess, Jamie Lynn, had accommodated us with a 7:00 reservation and greeted us...warmly and seated us at the perfect table. Our server, Nikki, was very courteous and professional and made our dining even better. The food and drinks were exceptional and we all enjoyed the entire experience. When we visit NOLA next, we definitely will dine there.More
We had a wonderful experience for dinner at Irene’s. We were early for our reservation so we were seated in the piano bar to have a cocktail while we waited for out table. I had a delicious cosmopolitan and my husband loved his dirty martini...with blue cheese olives. Very quickly, we were escorted into the traditional dining room where AJ became our waiter. He was absolutely great—always there when we needed something and quick to give great recommendations. We tried both of the oyster appetizers. Our favorite was the Oysters Irene but the other was very good, too. I had the Caesar Salad and my husband had one of the salad specials. Both were good. Then, I had the fish amandine and my husband had the lamb. Both were excellent. We could not finish any of the dishes but they were all superb. Our bottle of a red Sicilian wine was excellent as well. No room for dessert even though it was my husband’s birthday. We would definitely return when in NO again. Don’t miss the chance to try this great restaurant.More
First class all the way! I was intrigued by the Italian meets Creole concept and it did not disappoint! Everything here was classy and elegant, from arrival, food and drink, service and atmosphere. We arrived just a bit early for our reservation and the place...was packed. The host escorted us to a "cocktail table", where we were seated and able to order a drink while waiting for our table to become available. Cocktails were all very interesting and everybody in our party enjoyed them. Once our table was ready, the staff carried the drinks for us and transferred the tab to our dinner tab. Seamless. The menu has quite a few classic Italian dishes as well as those with a New Orleans taste. Since we are visitors to New Orleans, those really piqued my interest. I had a classic dish, Meunière Almondine with a topping of lump crab. Heavenly taste and beautiful presentation. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive and service from the kitchen was on point for every course. We ate very well during our visit to New Orleans, and I'd have to say Irene's was the best of the "fine" meals we enjoyed. I highly recommend a visit, but I'm told you need to book well in advance. and I understand why.More
We didn’t have reservations we were offered seating with dining at piano bar. My husband wears cowboy hat. When we walked up to bar the bar tender welcomed us with country slang hello which we ignored. We sat down I ask what wine by glass...he told me they only had one. Didn’t offer wine list. He gave us menu’s told us the specials and said we need to tell him everything we want at once. We got appetizer and salad at same time and food before we finished. We had to ask for bread. We both ordered Lasagna and we both had to cut it with knives. It was room temp. We had a second round of drinks, ask for to-go box. We had to ask for a bag to put box in he laid it on top of box! He bagged others . I feel the server wanted to rush us out not sure if he was offended by my husbands hat or why. The piano was way too loud. It was our worst dining experience of our trip.More
Amazing place! We were a walk-in and by total luck found a seat at the bar (the place was packed). The hostess was very nice, very friendly and the bartender (who was our waiter) was friendly and made good food recco's. Moderate prices for a...high-quality experience. Mostly locals so you know it has to be good if it's this jammed! Friendly suggestion: Make a reservation as this is a popular place.More
The food was average. Almandine was not hot…. Barely warm. Chicken parm was not hot and bland. Hope it was just a off night.
Spectacularly friendly staff and atmosphere! The food was excellent as always and we can’t wait to return to one of our long-time favorites next visit to NOLA.
This has been our best meal whilst staying in New Orleans, the waiter were all very friendly and attentive and explained clearly what the various specials of the day were. We opted for the a seafood starter and the soup which was excellent and then...followed with the seafood stew and the cannelloni special which were similarly excellent. My only regret was we couldn’t make room for desert which I am sure would also have been top quality. Well done Irene’s.More
Irene's was one of the best restaurants we ate at during our 3.5 days in New Orleans! Very memorable, highly recommended. Right in French Quarter. Lasagna and duck both awesome, as were oysters and cheesecake. Agree with other reviewer that it was best cheesecake I've...ever had! Great service and atmosphere.More
Great food, service and lovely atmosphere. One of the top five restaurants in New Orleans. A big favorite!
Not enough superlatives for this French Quarter charmer. From the decor to the service and of course, the food, everything is top notch at a very reasonable price for the quality of the food and the portions. We had an early reservation, but the staff...never rushed us. Each course from the complimentary amuse bouche to both types of oysters, duck for my husband and fish for me, and finally, desert was an absolute delight. The service was efficient without being obtrusive. The piano player adds just the right note to the total ambience, which is understated elegance. In a city of many good to great restaurants, Irene's is a winner. We will definitely make this a go to destination in future visits.More
David is the best waiter ever…..he added to our dining experience immensely. We had excellent entrees one of which was a whole snapper certainly a delight and cooked to perfection. Cannelloni el forno was outrageous. The appetizers were superb especially the crabmeat au gratin and...the oyster soup. Don’t forget the desserts… cheesecake and semi frozen chocolate mousse yum yum. We sat in the bar area and enjoyed the piano player who had a large repertoire and was fun. The whole night was great thanks to David. A fun and attentive to the extreme waiter. Thanks so muchMore
Sooooo good!! My husband had the steak and I had chicken with crawfish sauce. Both amazing! You could cut the steak with a fork.
Do not miss the opportunity to enjoy a great Italian meal in a charming historic Bourbon Street area restaurant! Recommended by a frequent NOLA guest here, we couldn’t wait to enjoy the warm weather menu. Starting with a wonderful watermelon salad and a fabulous sautéed...fish entree, every bite was heavenly. Helpful server/nice wine list.More
