I really liked this trendy restaurant, just a few yards from Bourbon Street but completely civilized inside. I chose to eat at the bar and have small plates. The lobster dumplings were a standout dish. Service was very good except for one dingbat bartender who kept yelling dumb remarks and jokes to customers, even trying to get involved in their... More

There's a well-earned wait for this restaurant, but it was definitely worth the hassle of waiting/making reservations. One word: Scalibut.

We visited this wonderful restaurant on a Saturday night. It was my husband's birthday and we wanted a special place to celebrate. They had a corner table for us with glitter to celebrate. Service was great and the food was outstanding! It was also nice because they have a dress code where people are not dressed in T-shirts and shorts.... More

GW Fins from start to finish was beyond outstanding! The service was top notch, the restaurant was comfortable and the food was a terrific, modern take on southern seafood. We wanted to back a second night and regretted that we did not. My new favorite restaurant, not just my new favorite in New Orleans! By the way, I'm not usually... More

After a long day of touring New Orleans we stumbled upon this delightful restaurant. What a find. The food was so good I definitely wanted to return immediately. This was our 3rd trip to New Orleans and 2nd time at GW Fins. Can't believe I missed it the first time. If you love fresh fish, this is the place to dine. Their signature dish, Scalibut, is one of the best fish dishes I've ever had. Be sure to add this to your dining list.

My wife, 4 year old and myself booked a reservation on our trip to New Orleans based on the excellent recommendations here on Trip Advisor. The staff and the menu were absolutely off the charts. We had the chilled Cobia crudo with kafir lime, mint and chile oil, the crispy pork belly and the local drum. One important item I... More

Restaurant is designed to have several different levels of booths and tables. Conversations flowed easily even though the restaurant was full. Food was interesting and the signature scallibut was tasty. Service was great until the entrees arrived and then we seemed to be an afterthought.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
