The food here is great and that is why we came. the service is mediocre. Our waiter was more interested in socializing with any number of diners than he was in waiting on tables so things were really slow. But the noise wiped out any feeling of charm or good will. It was deafening. I could not easily talk across... More

This is one of the best restaurants I have been to....we started with the bbq shrimp, you must dip your bread in the sauce, we also had the lobster dumplings which were delicious. We both had the wedge salad which was crisp and fresh. For entrees my husband had the filet mignon over potatoes with a side of mushroom risotto.... More

Usually the second time you visit some place is disappointing, yet the 2nd time we visited here it was terrific. We were actually expecting to be disappointed the 3rd time, but it was even better! The pork belly and watermelon is pure genius. If you are in NOLA, this is a must.

I don't think I have ever had such a nice evening dining out! A 'foodie' restaurant without the attitude. Our sever was very nice and genuine. The food was very original and flavorful. The lobster dumplings will melt in your mouth and the lobster salad was scrumptious!! The owners of this restaurant are also fishermen and really present fabulous and... More

We went to GW Fins for my wife's birthday and it couldn't have been better. We started with the lion fish ceviche, and then had the Scalibut and Warsaw Grouper. Desserts were delish and hers was free because I had added a birthday celebration on the reservation comments. The complementary daily menu with her name and happy birthday was a... More

We were given a recommendation by the concierge at La Meridien to try G W Fins and we were not disappointed! The waiter was attentive and helpful and the menu was substantial. The scones were melt in your mouth delicious, the wine menu, a delight. We opted for blue fun tuna and scallops, both of which were simply divine. This... More

We were introduced to this by a NOLA native, it's one of her favourited and now it's one of ours too! A lovely evening, great food, great service - in the French Quarter but away from the grime of Bourbon Street - what's not to like? Definitely book ahead!

Excellent from beginning to end. This is one of the most exceptional dining experience I've ever had. When making reservations were informed there was a dress code for men, collar on shirt a must, which made it clear there was a bar to be set for customers. Resturant is very large, good light and open. We sat in a a... More

When you live you New Orleans you can have a tendency to return to your old tried and true haunts, like Antoine's, Galatoire's, Mr. B's and Arnaud's. But when you become brave enough to step outside your own self imposed box you are can be rewarded with a fabulous meal, as is the case with GWFins. This French Quarter staple... More

My friends and I loved the atmosphere and food at GW Fins. I had the Lobster Dumplings which were delish for appetizer and the Pompano for dinner which gave me a hearty portion of fish filet. My friends had the scallops which they raved about. The wine list was good and service was great!

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
