We have been coming to New Orleans for over 10 years and quite frankly we have not been able to secure a reservation here every year. This year we did! The fried chicken is to die for...I don't remember having chicken that good since I was a kid. Worth the wait

What a great place this is! Saw the reviews for this on TripAdvisor and had to check it out. Took a cab from the French Quarter. Went with my 9 yrs old son and husband. Outside of the restaurant is looks like a traditional French Quarter home with some fun signs out front. Inside has lots of fun paintings and... More

My wife and I were in New Orleans for our anniversary and kept having people tell us about Jacques-Imo's Cafe. With everyone telling us about it, we had to go see. What a surprise!!! The restaurant is NOT a fancy place to look at, BUT the food was OUTSTANDING and the service matched the food. Don't let the neighborhood or... More

What an incredible culinary experience... if you make the trek out to Jacques-Imo's you will not be disappointed. This is the best Cajun restaurant we have ever had the pleasure of eating at. It's in a quirky old house with uneven floors and decor straight out of a Tim Burton movie, but the service is first rate and the food... More

We took a cab from Bourbon St. to this place because it was recommended by multiple people. The service and food was great. We had the rabbit appetizer which was surprisingly good and not too gamey. They give you a small salad to start with a fried oyster on it. I had the Crawfish Etoufee which was also excellent. The... More

We we're quite disappointed with our experience at Jacques-Imo's. The food is ok but nothing more and it's definitely not worth the price that you pay. If you're looking to eat typical New Orleans food their are better place to go than there.

I loved the stained glass in the dining room. The food was fabulous! They don't take reservations for parties less than 5 so go early or be prepared to wait however it is worth the wait.

The atmosphere was bar like but nice. Quirky with the ceiling covered in framed paintings. I had the crawfish etoufee with corn and red beans and rice. It was all VERY good. The cornbread was also amazing.

Our first visit since before hurricane Katrina. Everything was very bland. Blackened redfish was dry and lacked any flavor. The fried chicken was okay but didn't have much flavor either. The service was good, but distracted.

This was our first meal in New Orleans and we were very impressed. Loved the atmosphere and the food was amazing! Definitely get the alligator cheesecake! A must do when you visit this great city.

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighborhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
