Went here on a Friday night, and the food did not disappoint. My wife and I were trying to save a little money, so we just split a three-course meal. The alligator sausage cheesecake is a MUST TRY, and the fried chicken was delicious. Waited about 40 minutes, and the bar is a little snug. Also, there wasn't a lot... More

Don't believe the sign outside that reads "Warm Beer, Lousy Food, Poor Service." While I can't vouch for the beer, the food and the service are quite good. I wouldn't say the food is five-star, but I gave it the five-star rating because for the price you're getting a great meal. For $19 I got a plate with four pieces... More

Everything was Amazing. We tried a few dishes stuffed shrimp, butter beans, corn and blackened redfish where the stand outs. However everything that touched our lips while at Jacques-Imo's was deliciuos. It's well worth the trip to Uptown. We will be returning on our next trip to NOLA.

Away from the standard tourist areas but easily accessible on the St. Charles St. trolley. Menu includes mostly chicken and seafood with a steak and a few other Cajun/Creole/Southern dishes. We opted for the fried chicken - very filling and great batter. The Boudin balls were outstanding and the complimentary garlic corn bread muffins were wonderful. Great friendly service -... More

A group of 7 of us went to this restaurant as it had been highly recommended. We each had something different and everything as delicious! A must-do if you are visiting New Orleans!

Super eclectic layout (just downright weird but it works!) and atmosphere. Loved the painted walls and the cozy, warm and inviting feel. Every single employee we encountered from start to finish was super helpful, happy and inviting as well. (Wed 1/4) Our server was excellent. The food: well it's sounds super strange, but you have to try the alligator and... More

Went around 6 to avoid a long wait. We tried to come by at 9:30 a couple days ago and were told it would be a 2 hour wait. Only had a 25 minute wait which we spent at the bar. The shrimp and alligator sausage cheesecake was delicious!

You HAVE to eat here!!! They were recommended by a friend but we didn't want to travel out of the French quarter. After a horrible recommendation from someone at the hotel for the creole cookery the night before we sucked it up and ordered and uber (only $12 each way). We read that the wait is usually long and they... More

We took the St. Charles streetcar over from Canal Street, which was a blast in itself. We got to the neighborhood before the restaurant opened at 5, and we were glad to have arrived early because they started seating people 10-15 minutes before 5pm. By the time we were done with our dinner and leaving at 6pm there was a... More

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighborhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
