What a great find!! Had an amazing dinner here. Great service, delicious food and fun atmosphere! They don’t take reservations so get there early - 5 - or be prepared to wait. Worth it either way! Come hungry - delicious cornbread, spinach salad, and dessert come with everything. Portions were generous on the entrees. They had a Brussel Sprout special appetizer that was amazing. Enjoy!!

A friend recommended Jacques-Imo’s and we took a chance. Mainly locals since it was quite a drive from the French Quarter. ...well worth the drive! Our server was outstanding and took great care in making sure the food we ordered met dietary resrictions of one in our group. The grouper was outstanding as was the short ribs on sweet potatoes. Will definitely be back any time we are in town.

Absolutely loved Jacques-Imo's. We were fortunate to be staying nearby so were able to dine 3 times in 1 week. Watermelon mojito was fantastic, fried green tomatoes and fried grits were my favourite and the shrimp stuffed with crab was delicious. We can recommend them all. In fact, we did not even have an entre as the starters were so generous and delicious. The cornbread muffins were out of this world! Very comfortable and cozy ambiance.
Our experience with the staff was very positive from the attentive servers, to the jovial kitchen staff and the hostesses were very accommodating and friendly. Easy to get to from the French Quarter - just take the St. Charles Streetcar to Oak and walk a few blocks to the restaurant.

The manager at French Toast recommended as a dinner option and did not disappoint. Food, service, and atmosphere were excellent. Staff all seemed to get along and work together to serve the meal. Everything was excellent -grouper, redfish, sheephead special, shrimp etoufee, shrimp and gator sausage cheesecake, bread pudding. Fun neighborhood and nice change from the French Quarter downtown scene. Well worth the trip out of the city and nice trolley ride out.

Easy to get to via the St. Charles Streetcar. Food was top notch as usual EXCEPT the shrimp etouffe which was a bit too salty for my wife's (and mine) taste. The wait staff were attentive but not obtrusive. We recommend Jacques Imo's while in NOLA

I think the maque choux was a deal killer- flavorless frozen corn kernels cooked without a hint of Cajun goodness. The bar was slow and indifferent and my wife’s cosmo unrecognizable . The table service - Mike- was excellent and the red fish and crab were good but in a city of excellent, good is not what you seek!

Our server, Mike, was really personable! We started with the stuffed shrimp appetizer. It came with a bit of a salad and while the shrimp was good, so was the dressing on the salad! Mike suggested a taste of a wine on the list, which we tried. We chose another one. Penny had the stuffed catfish and I had the grilled grouper. We couldn't have been more pleased with our food, nor could we have been more stuffed. Mike heard us talking about birthday plans and before we could leave, she brought us a coconut bread pudding (with a birthday candle). Service was great; portions were more than generous.

The atmosphere and service was upbeat and energetic but the smoked ribeye was not a good recommendation. It was either really poor quality or simply a bad cut of meat. I literally had to work to cut eat bite.
Not saying this restaurant is bad or lacking service but definitely research what to order. Do yourself huge favor and skip any cuts of beef. Very disappointing

Great little place for a REAL New Orleans dinner. The atmosphere is very relaxed and staff is incredibly friendly. But the food is the real star here. From the amazing corn muffin starters to the mouth watering crab stuffed catfish and sides, it's all incredible. Portions are good sized so bring an appetite and you'll leave very happy

We had dinner recently, first time since covid lockdown. Most of the food was delicious, my other loved her eggplant pirogue and shrimp remoulade appetizer. Ditto my brussels sprouts with a pungent sauce. My ribeye, though large (really large!), was heavily salted with tons of marbling--I couldn't finish it. The oversalting is always a problem for me here, especially given the heaviness of the cuisine (even the muffins are buttery.) Also the margaritas were too strong, we had to dliute them. Service was excellent as usual and it's a fun atmosphere. I recommend the seafood over the meat.

Love this place! Very cool atmosphere. Fun and busy. Food is consistently great, especially the jalapeño corn muffins and shrimp/fish dishes. I wish they were able to give reservations for parties of 2, but I understand!

This place was recommended by a friend and it didn't disappoint. We stayed in the Garden District and it was about a 20 minute ride on the St. Charles Streetcar that was wroth the trip as we drove by beautiful homes along the way. We arrived early on a Saturday, just before 5:00 as we understood Jacques-Imo's can get very busy and we were seated right away. We shared the Alligator Cheesecake and the Fried Green Tomatoes and both were fantastic. I had alligator a couple of different ways on our trip and this by far was the best way it was done. For dinner I had the fried chicken, I'm not fried chicken connoisseur but I really enjoyed it along with the cole slaw and red beans and rice. The restaurant is filled with energy, even early in the evening, and the staff were all great. I'd recommend making the trip out to Jacques-Imo's if you're ever looking for something a little different from the general "Oyster Bar" themes of a lot of French Quarter places.

One vegetarian option so this wasn't a great place for me but my husband and brother in law liked their meals. The cornbread muffins were good. The spinach salad was literally just spinach. The dressing was good though. The corn side was really good. The shoestring fries were fine. Waiter was ok.

First time in New Orleans. Wanted to get the authentic Cajun Creole experience as the locals do was highly recommended to Jacques-Imo's by The Higgins Hotel bar tender. So my husband and my friends agreed to go try it out. You can take the trolley all the way to it about 6 mi away from the French quarter. Saving money from an Uber.
We get there. And as soon as we walked in the vibe was colorful, exciting and curious to be walking through the kitchen to get to your table to say the least. As we sat down we were greeted by our server as well as these heavenly corn muffins best I've ever had in my life. Simple butter and parsley are completely addicting to say the least! The menu no matter what you order was excellent and we ordered quite the variety at our table. We had everything from the redfish to the chicken to the pork chop. Every dish melted in your mouth was perfectly cooked and full of flavor . The sides for all delicious and well seasoned too . I might add that the sides also give you authentic New Orleans classics to try which was a great treat . Our server even brought us complimentary alligator cheesecake, which the name alone fascinated us the taste. Surprising that I was not only eating alligator but actually enjoying it. This is a must try, especially for all of us being first time New Orleans visit. The entire place made you feel like a local and immersed in the Creole Cajun world, as well as the pride of New Orleans, not only for Mardi gras season, but beyond. I absolutely love this city and would love to live here if I could I would! People extremely friendly, laid back. Never a bad meal anywhere you go and lots to do. This restaurant was one of the best I experienced on my trip. I definitely would go back again and the place from the staff to the food to the service. Excellent!
This is definitely a must do on your list. Enjoy!!
By the time you get asked about having dessert, you're so full but you really want to know what they have. It's hilarious!. Again, sincere thanks to the staff and place, it was amazing!!

The food here is fantastic. High quality, fresh ingredients cooked expertly. Most of restaurants serving this typical cuisine here use too much salt. Not here. Fried green tomatoes were the best I've had. Boudin balls were stellar and I don't even like boudin. The grouper was perfect, but the rack of lamb (more like rib chops) were my favorite, cooked to a perfect medium and finished with a wonderfully restrained mornay sauce. Service was friendly and efficient, great drinks. The decor is not for everyone but we loved the fun and funky vibe of this place where you can taste the love that went into the food.
