About
Serving Dinner Thursday-Tuesday. Restaurant R'evolution is the venture of award-winning Chef John Folse and The Royal Sonesta New Orleans offering modern, imaginative reinterpretations of classic Cajun and Creole cuisine. Steeped in the diverse historic and cultural influences of Louisiana, the menu features not only the chefs' interpretations of New Orleans classics such as gumbo and beignets, but also new creations highlighting ingredients from what Chef Folse refers to as "the swamp floor pantry." Tableside service components play an important role in the dining experience, promoting guest engagement about the history and evolution of the food they are enjoying. Soups such as Creole Louisiana Snapping Turtle Soup and Death by Gumbo play on unusual presentations of these traditional dishes that date back centuries. Desserts showcase classical New Orleans sweets done in a new and contemporary way.

We should probably take one star away for the very long wait for our dessert to show, and a few other things, but all in all, this was excellent evening.
We arrived before our time, so we visited the bar. Struck up conversation with waiter who helped with a telephone app.
Finally seated in restaurant, which still had some Christmas decor up, which warmed the room, very pretty.
We first ordered appetizers of gumbo, which came with a quail egg, then the gumbo poured around the egg; a beet dish of some kind, and again foie gras, which was very nicely cooked.
We did have a problem finding a wine that was liked. We kept telling the Captain waiter what kind was liked, from what state, and what price. He kept naming ones too expensive or ones not liked. Finally we took the pad and found a familiar one that was agreeable!
Two of our group had redfish with burre blanc sauce, really fantastic. Only sorry I did not do the same! I had lobster, butter poached. Now I have made this myself, and can testify that there is huge difference between being raw and being done by poaching, and believe me it was raw! So not happy.
We were never rushed, in fact, most tables were done before we were served our main dishes.
We then ordered the bread pudding, which took forever to receive! It was just okay.
This is a lovely venue, they just need to tighten up some on the wait!

We totally enjoyed the Christmas Re'veillon Dinner at Restaurant R'evolution! The food and service are 5 star amazing; Chef john Folse did not disappoint us. We enjoyed the "Death by Gumbo" so much we talked about it for days.
The main thing I truly enjoyed was the Professional Staff, our waiter Travis was so on point it was amazing, I'm embarrassed to say I can't recall his assisting waiter's name, but he was great, they both are true professionals. The Restaurant uses the old New Orleans system of seasoned, professional waiters as opposed to several young low paid servers that mess up your order.
The decor is really beautiful and attention to detail is evident in everything from the immaculate tablecloth to the amazing food. The Restaurant's location in the Royal Sonesta provides Christmas Time Customers a bonus with amazing Christmas decorations in the lobby and public areas.
We enjoyed it, check it out

The good: great, friendly and attentive service of primarily regional foods from team waiters Tina and Deshawn. Tables were nicely spaced, with comfortable chairs and a relatively calm, upscale but still lively environment, despite the weekend and the Bourbon Street neighborhood, a key tourist spot. The attached bar has interesting and potent cocktails. Red fish and scallops entrees, and Death by Gumbo appetizer soup were good, as was the rich butter garlicky bread that arrived immediately and on which you can get refills. No sides (other than a little garnish) came with the reasonably sized entrees, you have to order them separately (that helps keep our weight down). Dessert was a tasty buttery tartlet. There is an extensive wine list.
The not so good: borderline sketchy neighborhood with a drunk lying on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant (but there was a plain clothes guard at the door).
Wines were primarily French and overpriced (too much markup), on top of being high end to begin with. There are restaurants with better food, especially for the price.
We would return to try more dishes, but would likely bring our own nice wine and pay the $50 corkage fee, or just buy a glass.

I chose to celebrate my birthday at Revolution Restaurant, and I have to say it was a disappointing experience. The prices are extremely high, and unfortunately, the food just didn’t live up to the expectations that come with that price tag.
I ordered the Seabass, which was undercooked and needed about another 30 seconds to be properly done. My wife went for the lamb chops, but they lacked seasoning and flavor. For a restaurant with these prices, I expected much better quality and attention to detail.
When I tried to address these issues with the staff, it felt like my concerns were dismissed. If you’re going to charge that much for a meal, the food really needs to reflect that standard. Spending $300 for a meal that didn’t meet expectations was incredibly frustrating, especially on my birthday.
Ultimately, my birthday was saved by Willy Chicken, which ended up being a better choice after our experience at Revolution. If you're looking for a restaurant with great food, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning to Revolution.

This dinner was supposed to be my birthday dinner on our last night of our stay at the Monteleone Hotel. We arrived for our 7:15 reservations and our table was not ready. We stood to wait and were seated at 7:30. My wife and I split two 1/2 appetizers which I'm glad they let us do. The cornbread was very good. The appetizers did not taste good to either one of us. We ordered dinner and waited about an hour. Our meals finally come with an apology from the manager who said they were not happy with the way my wife's linguini looked the first time it was prepared, so they remade it. My ribeye steak was too salty, overcooked, thin and gristly. Maybe they kept cooking it while they remade my wife's dish. My side of fingerling potatoes had so much salt, they were inedible for my. My wife, who loves spicy food, said the linguine was so spicy it became inedible. We sent our dishes back, partially eaten and received an apology from the manager, who comped us our whole meal except the beer. Understandably, I was not wished a happy birthday. As we left, I noticed the waitress chugging wine in the corner. She tried and I tipped her well. It was not her fault.

Started off with a bottle of Pinot noir from Oregon which was really good. Next, prosciutto and beef tartar both were very good. At this stage dinner was going great and service was good as well. However, when I received my lamb chops it was all fat and barely had any meat. The chop had grill marks on it which indicated they didn’t cook it properly when they cut it so they had to grill it. Which did no justice as it was fatty and all gristle. They made a new one and same thing. Terrible with a capital T!!! Leaving the restaurant I requested to speak to the chef. Sous Chef Catherine came out and was not pleased with my attitude as I just paid over 400 dollars for dinner and was very frustrated. She explained to me it was the cut. Ok then 86 it and don’t serve it end of discussion. I then proceeded to tell her I wouldn’t feed this to my dog. She also didn’t like it. Oh it gets better!! After paying for dinner I’m getting ready to leave and there is a pile of menus on the host stand as far as the eye can see. Put it this way, if someone was standing behind host stand I wouldn’t be able to see them. Unacceptable to say the least. Asked to speak with FOH manager and she has the worst attitude not willing to listen to me. I then asked to speak with head chef and started heading to kitchen she follows me and starts yelling at me on my way to kitchen stating the head chef has left. Which was not true he was in the kitchen. Needless to say I will not be returning ever again. She called security as I was taking pictures of host stand. I left very upset and she is not qualified to have the job. End of story!!!

We went for our anniversary, it was an amazing dining experience
The staff were welcoming and friendly, this was our third time dining here and it was the best experience.
We started with a half bottle of sparkling wine, gumbo and the fois gois. They were both delicious.
Our server made sure our pace and ability to sit and relax and enjoy our time and the bubbles was perfect. They let our bottle of wine sit and breathe and never rushed us to try and turn the table.
We shared the steak for 2 and it was cooked perfect, my wife and i usually always order too much food and end up not finishing or be so full we need a nap after. This was not that experience, it was a perfect amount of food.
We lastly had a cheese course for dessert, the suggestion of doing 3 cheeses was great, the portion sizes were extremely generous.
We are from the northeast where everyone is in a rush, we appreciated the pace and ability to sit and talk and digest and leave feeling like we were in someones home
Thank you

Cool place, experienced and very attentive servers. We had high expectations for this place but were a bit disappointed. I ordered the shrimp and grits and found the dish to be the opposite of elegant. The grits were lukewarm and congealed, with the shrimp placed on top. The chunks of bacon/fat were too tough, not appetizing. The salad we ordered had fried oysters but they were overly dry and hard to identify as fried oysters. The small side of greens was the best choice we made; they were outstanding. The turtle soup presentation (and flavour) was nice but not outstanding. The quail tryptich was interesting. The waiter gave us a free dessert (of his choice) when I mentioned about the lukewarm grits; I would have preferred a discount on the cost of the entree as the dessert wasn’t to my taste.

I can only verify and repeat what Chef Folse has said about his restaurant in New Orleans that it is his Maximum Opus. I can confirm it is one of the greatest meals of my life up there with what must be similar the two Three Emperor Dinners in Paris in the past. It was an epic exploration of the highest achievement in the Culinary Arts. We started off with an assortment of appetizers and the two that stood out for me was a poached Lobster salad that was just divine followed by A5 Japanese Kobe carpaccio which I have never seen anywhere and it just melted in your mouth. For dinner many of us shared Chateaubriand that was prepared perfectly and again melt in your mount flavor and tender cut with a fork. It did not hurt that we accompanied our meal with four outstanding wines and thank you to Tom for the reds, all 100 point stars described below. Service by Travis was impeccable and the highest service possible. Nothing was left to chance. Dinner was a well conducted symphony and I cannot wait to return soon. Again the best meal ever in the past number of years. Definitely #1.

Restaurant Revolution in New Orleans was one of our stops during our cruise in February. We had the pleasure of sitting at the chef's table right in front of the executive chef's station so we could see the very talented staff prepare select dishes.
Our meal was a real treat with unique dishes that wowed the senses . The visual presentations were stunning, the smells were intoxicating and the taste and flavors superb.
I started with the Creole Snapping Turtle soup which featured Deviled Quail Eggs and wonderful Madeira broth, turtle soup is a New Orleans favorite and this version was just outstanding. We shared the wonderful Blue Crab Beignets with four Remoulades - so light, packed with crab and accompanied with a get sauce. My entree was an amazing Rack of Elk with a side of Crispy Brussles Sprouts with a Sugar Cane Sweet n' Sour sauce topped with shaved Manchego - perfectly cooked Elk with flavor to spare. We finished with two Sorbets Roasted Lemon and Blood Orange - perfect ending to a great meal.
Our serving team was lead by Kevin R who was both entertaining with great stories about the food and place and helpful with great ordering suggestions which directed us through this amazing meal.
Highly recommend that if you find yourself in New Orleans make a reservation to visit Restaurant Revolution in the French Quarter.

My husband wanted us to have a nice dinner while in town for our "baby moon" and booked a dinner here at Restaurant R'evolution. Sandwiched between Bourbon and another side street - the night we arrived (the day before St. Patrick's Day) was full of revelers and partiers as a parade had just concluded and a bar crawl was underway.
Inside, we found a beautiful and classy respite from the mayhem just outside.
It's beautiful decorated, very classy, with impeccable service and a lovely bar area and even more lovely main dining.
The menu boasts tons of decadent options.
We chose the lobster bisque onion soup to start with delicious and fresh lobster inside and a creamy, delicious base.
House bread and butter were great.
I chose the fish of the day (bass) for my entree with a carrot risotto and hubs chose the short rib which was very soft and delicious. Great texture.
For dessert - we were served some small profiteroles with a "Congrats" message to celebrate our baby and we ordered the bananas foster affogato. Very good but not exactly what I expected.
We'd happily come back. Pricey but worth it! No detail is overlooked here.

Our previous visit in 2019 was exceptional. This round in 2022.......was average. Frankly, the wine was better than the food. We started with festive cocktails and foie gras. Perfect! The death by gumbo and oyster Cesar we're also delectable. But that is where it ended. My husband ordered a Delmonico steak and I ordered the lobster boullabaise. Neither were even par. The cut of steak was extremely thin and presented poorly. The bouillabaise was served with "breaded" oysters....! Yuck! Not to mention the luke warm broth poured table side. I had to ask for hot broth. I'll blame that on the inattentive server. Which brings me to the ask for horseradish for my husband's steak, charged for, by the server, never brought to the table and then we had to ask for it to be removed from the bill, just to get his attention . Without apology, we left, telling the host at the door we were extremely disappointed.
Better luck next time?????

We booked this lovely restaurant at the last minute and during the busy Mardis Gras weekend. First, the restaurant is beautiful and tables are well spaced. We were fortunate to have Dor as our waiter and Johnny to serve as Sommelier. Dor knew his stuff and guided us through the menu expertly.
The oysters were superb - both the raw and the roasted! The lobster/onion bisque was unique and delicious. We both had fish - she had the special, and I had the redfish. Both were well prepared and had wonderful and unique flavors. Surprisingly, the bread service was incredible - house made biscuits and French bread with three blended butters.
One criticism of New Orleans restaurants has been that there are a thousand restaurants, all with the same menu. Not this restaurant! Having grown up in Louisiana, we remember chef Folse and Lafitte’s Landing; we have the Encyclopedia of Cajun and Creole Cuisine on our coffee table. You see Chef Folse’s influence all over this menu. This is a modern Cajun/Creole restaurant with classic influences but with real modern techniques. It is outstanding. And it is not the same menu as the thousand other New Orleans restaurants. It is our new favorite!

We came without a reservation on a Saturday night after walking out of another restaurant due to horrible service, and sat at the bar. Bartenders were so welcoming and entertaining, drinks were delicious and plentiful, and the shrimp and grits were outstanding. From our vantage point you could see how the servers and bartenders worked as a team. That is certainly reflected in the customer experience.

Lived in New Orleans my whole life so I am familiar with the food.......Its hard to review this restaurant, while some dishes were very good, it was sooo over priced it is ridiculous. The 55.00 filet mignon was delicious ,as well as the 70.00 ribeye, but the salad was not tasty, the turtle soup ,"we have had better". Even the famous quail gumbo did not impress. The charcutier board was nice , but not for 55.00 just for everyone to have one small taste. our bill was 475.00 with tip 650.00! No, we will not be going again

French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
