With the virus keeping many people at home it was refreshing to discover that the Oceana Grill is still serving good food at reasonable prices. In addition it is a very large restaurant so maintaining social distance was not an issue. Our server Tyler did a great job of explaining our choices and answering our questions. I chose the fried shrimp platter and not only were they delicious but I could not even finish the many large shrimp on the platter.

We are currently displaced due to Hurricane Laura and our hotel had an advertisement for a small discount for displaced persons. We walked to have breakfast on Labor Day morning... Our server was amazing.! Despite being the bartender on duty he was still attentive and kept our table neat and drinks full (Josh R.) He kept us laughing, while still allowing us to enjoy our food and offered well wishes after learning about our home being severely damaged from the hurricane..
Portions are huge! The french toast is legit french bread and didn't get soggy even after I added peaches to it.. My husband's omelet was stuffed full and topped with their signature crawfish and mushroom sauce.. Atmosphere was nice.. Clean restrooms We'll definitely return...!

Destine was our server, and she did a fantastic job! She was attentive, sweet, answered all of our questions patiently, and strived to make everything right according to our tastes. We’d never had alligator or oysters before, so it was lots of fun to try them here for the first time. The oysters Oceana were delicious. Ribs were tasty and tender, shrimp Po boy had the perfect amount of zing, crabcakes were delicious. The Ahi tuna overcooked, so I would suggest ordering it medium rare if you order it. Best bread pudding in the French Quarter, crème brûlée was just OK, but the chocolate moose was out of this world! Great place to eat in a nice atmosphere. Prices were good too!

My husband and I arrived into town late and hungry around 9:30. we were advised at check in by our hotels front desk to come here. We are from Florida and have never been to Louisiana before. I have always wanted to try authentic New Orleans style cuisine. I’m sad to say but I wasn’t impressed with the experience overall. When we approached the host stand we were all told to sign names with phone numbers on a list with a long line of people touching the same pen and due to COVID it didn’t seem like a smart decision. Nobody explained how the process worked and when we were trying to ask a simple question on where to wait or if we should expect a call or text a woman rudely rushed up to the host stand and told us in an annoyed tone and barked at us to go outside and wait. After getting to the table and much contemplation on wanting to make the best decision for my first meal in New Orleans I picked the shrimp creole and my husband got a 20 ounce “blackened” Ribeye steak. My dish tasted like overly salty, spicy canned marinara sauce with a bunch of mini shrimp mixed in on some bland white rice. And my husbands steak seamed much smaller than 20 ounces not to mention it was hardly seasoned or seamed “blackened” which he was excited to try. It lacked in flavor indefinitely. Even some salt would have helped. He did enjoy the Jambalaya side rice that he ordered with it. I also ordered a strawberry basil margarita and both the strawberry and basil flavor were missing it just tasted like a sweet unidentifiable flavor and STRONG.... for our first experience in New Orleans it was disappointing...... especially for the price we paid for the meal and tip..... The only nice part of this was our server Erica who was very patient and friendly with us being so indecisive. I’m
Not sure if we came on an off evening or just picked the wrong dishes but we won’t be coming back.

We are morning people and love breakfast. We went to Oceana around 9:30 am. Great service, amazing food! We usually don't revisit on a vacation, so many places to try. On your receipt they have printed if you return M-F for breakfast, you 10% off and a free Bloody Mary. We went back. This time we were a little later. It was way busier. The Bloody Mary was FANTASTIC (and not just because it was free). The chef's special (biscuits/gravy, chicken, hollandaise) was under cooked. The biscuits were very doughy. We also did not get the 10% off. That said, the first time was great. We should not have been sucked into coming back during the week. Our mistake!

Our group of 11 ladies ate here on 1/31 for my birthday. I found they dont' take reservations on the weekends but our group only had a very small wait at 7:30p on a Saturday evening. We had a variety of dishes from the redfish on special, crabcakes, oysters, New Orleans sampler, and several pasta dishes. All were excellent! Drinks were good as well and our server was friendly and upbeat. My only word of caution for Nola in general is if they say it's not really spicy, the foods may still seem spicy to folks who don't love spicy (which was the case with the redfish). Don't hesitate to go here though, you won't regret it!

Went to this restaurant on 04/07/21. The waiter was polite enough but the wait for our food was ridiculous. After several other patrons has came and went we asked to speak to someone. It had been over an hour from placing our order. The “manager” came to speak to us. She was hateful, rude and told us if we didn’t like the service we were welcome to leave. She was acting very odd. She was wearing a green top with her dark hair pulled back with tattoos on her upper arm. I’m giving a description in case the owner wonders who caused this poor review. The server apologized and said our food was being brought from the kitchen. The redfish was good. The ribs were just okay. We spent $164.00 at this establishment for our party of 4 to wait 1 1/2 hours for just average food and very rude treatment.

This was me and my husband’s first trip to Bourbon street and we had just gotten married earlier in the day. We were looking to have a celebratory dinner and relax. Most of the restaurants were jammed pack and ended up stopping here. The menu looked good and was looking forward to a delicious meal. The waiter was nice and I asked for drink suggestions. I ordered the Hurricane as suggested and it was watered down. It was like I was drinking a virgin cocktail. My husband ordered a medium well t bone steak and I ordered the popular blackened redfish. The steak was huge but to me had no flavor. The redfish was not blackened had light breading and I had to add hot sauce and salt to give it flavor. The sides I ordered was mashed potatoes and greens. Both tasted decent but they put them both in the same little bowl like dish. I’ve never had a restaurant put greens in the same container as another item. That’s a no no because greens are so juicy. I was dissatisfied with my meal and wanted to go to Popeyes afterward to get some flavor. I wouldn’t recommend based on my experience.

The Oceana grill does not have chargrilled oysters.... also their to go menu says that you can take raw oysters on the half shell to go but that’s a lie too. Pointed out this in their to go menu and the female manager with long dark hair didn’t care. False advertising..... Plus horrible service. Go to the bourbon house instead as they have the best service and do oysters to go.

The server Kevin was excellent!. However, when we got our meal the shrimp and hush puppies were extremely over cooked. Then when my wife got to the bottom of her plate there was a large BLACK HAIR on the plate. Asked for the manager and her response was she was sorry... nothing else! Guess she thought that two 72 year olds with blonde and graying hair put it there. Really poor management!. The best part is that we had a voucher so our meal was not costing us anything. Just wanted a better response from her. Will never go back, and have shared our bad experience with several other visitors.

Absolutely the best restaurant in New Orleans! Amethyst and Mary were our servers. I wasn’t certain which Draft Beer I wanted so Amethyst brought me a couple of samples and Jucifer won! My father had the Fried Catfish platter, I had Blackened Redfish topped crawfish etouffee along with Gator Bitws
For an appetizer and my wife had Veggie Pasta. The food was very hot, very fresh and came to the table very very quickly. Amethyst and Mary made certain we had every thing we needed and checked on us several times. The prices for the food was very comparable to other restaurants, but the quality and especially the service from Amethyst and Mary is far far better than any where else we have eaten .The location is PERFECT, only steps away from Bourbon Street. Don’t wast your money and time going anywhere else!!!

Our hotel recommended Oceana and gave us a 10% discount coupon so we decided to try it. We walked to the restaurant from our hotel. Got right in. Fun atmosphere and interior.
My friend ordered a sampler plate of typical NOLA foods. Her food came out lukewarm, not hot. Said the food had good flavor but she wants her food hot.
.
I ordered the blackened chicken. My blackened chicken was very dry; almost like shoe leather. I had two sides, a side salad and mashed potatoes. I was very surprised at the tiny (child-like) portion of a "side salad" and small scoop of mashed potatoes that was in a small cup. For $18 I expected more.
The restaurant has several levels for seating. Not sure if there's an elevator for people to use if needed.
Our server was friendly.
Thus my 3 out of 5 rating. Not impressed.

Oceana Grill is an amazing must stop location for any customer local or tourist. They serve amazing meals well into the evening hours. Our party was seated immediately inside their beautiful upstairs dining room with a view of the holiday decorations and lights of the New Orleans street below. The menu is fantastic and frankly I’m sure everything will please. That said we went with the recommendations of our superb server Breanna who suggest the gator bites (fried) AMAZING she even brought us some extra dipping sauce as it is out of this world. My sister and I shared the Taste of New Orleans sampler so we would have room for desert. The meal was perfection. We are both in our mid thirties and not looking for the loud “club scene” and the clean restaurant, holiday decorations, and service were exactly the escape we were looking for. You should make this a must stop if you are in town. Don’t forget to save room for the bread pudding as it is eye’s roll back in your head good!!!

First and foremost the restaurant was dirty but what can you expect right off of Bourbon Street. After they sat us I happen to look up and noticed we are sitting below the sewage line coming from the second floor. That should have been my warning not to eat the food. I ordered an appetizer with my meal but did not get until till they brought out my meal and too top it off it was cold. Needless to say, I was sick for the next 2 days.

First, I want to comment on how kind the staff was, and very accommodating. The music was great. The alfredo was BOMB! And the serving I got was considered a side serving so it was only $7, which is even more bomb. The cajun sauce on top was *chefs kiss* thank you guys for a lovely dinner :)

French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
