We live Uptown, but my wife and I made the short trip to the Riverbend to check this place out after going through tapas withdrawal after our trip to Spain last year. The restaurant is cozy and comfortable. They've got a good wine list, and the menu selection is considerable. My wife's sister joined us and we tried a variety... More

One of the most overlooked restaurants for visitors in New Orleans. Everyone who comes to visit wants what New Orleanians eat, well this is it. If you have ever been to Spain this will take you back. The owner is always there and the kindest man you'll ever meet. The food is just simply put, perfect. As for the tomato... More

We were served personally by the chef, which was cool. You can tell he loves the place and put a lot of work into the decor and food. The gazpacho and calamari were the best dishes we had.

Best Sangria and tapas! We enjoyed tapas tasting and visiting with the chef. This is a great place for good food and conversation!

I've been here twice. Both experiences were great! Both times the chef has come out and talked to us, making sure that we are enjoying his food! I really respect a chef that does that. He cooks the food himself and it's his restaurant. He really wants to make sure that you're enjoying yourself and his food. The paella is... More

Stopped in for late evening snack. So glad we did! We had the asparagus aioli, chorizo with manchego cheese, patates with chipotle sauce and shrimp diablo. All were awesome. Finished off with flan and creme brulee for dessert. Lovely, calm, relaxing atmosphere. Great service!

one of the best places for tapas I haved in the States. Cozy and authentic atmosphre in the heart of the New Orleans Garden District. We started out with a cup of white bean fabada soup to warm up and get in the mood. followed with several vegetable dishes including brussel sprouts with havarti, asparagus, and an egg plant casserole.... Had a late dinner here at the advice of the niece from Tulane. We thoroughly enjoyed all of our choices. The paella is definitely worth ordering, as you can sample lots of other dishes while waiting as it is prepared. We especially enjoyed the mushrooms. Alas, her favorite dessert was not available, it had sold out. Next time we plan... More

I just came from Spain this year and this tastes just like it! Especially the do it yourself tapas- excellent idea.. involves you in the food (a cultural experience- how you would eat it IN Spain). The decor is beautiful and cozy.

If you want a taste of Spain, this is the place. My fiancé and I returned from Spain a month ago and had to try this restaurant. We were transported back to Europe through the atmosphere, friendly service and especially the food. The owner is from Barcelona and is extremely friendly and waits his own tables. The interior of the... More

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighborhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
