Laurel Oak is a very attractive space, service was great and some of the food was very good. Small plates were very tasty, Duck and the Gnocchi entre offerings were very good. However a shrimp and soba noodle special was a huge disappointment. While the...shrimp part was well done the noodle were so loaded with soy sauce making them so salty none of the 3 members of our group could finish more than half of the not overly large portion. Honestly this is the first restaurant in New Orleans we would not return to.More

Worst food I’ve ever had! We were a party of eight and the food was inedible! The cocktails and waiter were amazing but someone please help the chef!

My wife & I ate at this amazing restaurant twice during our March 2022 trip to New Orleans. Had we known about it earlier, we would have eaten there every night. I wish I could give it 10 stars. The cozy, intimate setting was perfect...for our evening meals, the location in the French Quarter can't be beat, the food was divine, but more importantly, the management and staff made us feel like life-long friends. The manager, Chris, has built himself quite a team. The way he treats his employees and his guests is both admirable and enviable. As a professor of hospitality & tourism at a top university in Hawaii, I took note of his skills and use his restaurant as a case study in my 'customer experience optimization' course. We appreciated the time he took to speak to us. We even got to meet the fabulous chef. We'll be back, for sure, if for no other reason than to enjoy a good meal with great friends. Thank you, Laurel Oak!More

It takes a lot, I mean A LOT for me to write a poor review for a restaurant, but after the experience we recently had at Laurel Oak, I feel obliged. I know how hard restaurant staff work, but this place was the biggest dud...I’ve been to in a long time. We arrived and were greeted promptly and taken to our table. There were six of us and the inside of the restaurant is nice. We had a great table and ordered a bottle of wine. Next thing we know, the waiter/manager brings six glasses of wine over and says, “Sorry, it’s too hard to pour at the table.” I think we had the correct wine but I have no way of knowing. I have never ordered a bottle of wine and not had it presented before it was poured. We then ordered. Shortly after ordering, around 8pm on a Saturday evening, they locked the doors, yes LOCKED the doors. They had customers trying to come in and wouldn’t let them. Strange…..we thought. Out came the apps. These were great. Everything tasted well and I have no complaints. So shortly before our entrees were to come out, we needed another bottle of wine. We asked for the same and were told they didn’t have another bottle. Fine, we asked for something similar. Once again, the wine was not presented and I have no idea what he brought. He arrived at the table, put his nose halfway down the glass and was smelling my wine. While I certainly don’t mind if they do this to check and see if the wine is corked, please use your own glass. I mean, I’m not Covid crazy but what in the world? Then came the entrees, well, for some of us. Entrees were presented to five of us and I patiently waited for mine to arrive. 25 minutes later, as everyone was finishing, I finally got my meal. Never was I checked on during this time period. We asked to have my meal comped and the manager stated “I’m not dealing with this level of rudeness.” The entrees were all great (or so I’m told, I never actually ate as we just left at that point), except for the Risotto…..don’t get that, it was basically 90 second Uncle Ben’s rice with herbs thrown on it. I have eaten at A LOT of restaurants, this place was almost comical at how bad it was.More

We ate at 3-4 other 5 star establishments while in New Orleans, and this was by far our favorite experience. The ambience is very chic and upscale, without being fussy. The host/service experience was top notch. The food was simply amazing. There was not one...dish that disappointed. We did 4 small plates to share, followed by several entrees with cocktails. Everything is reasonably priced, but I would not have been unhappy paying more either.More

We were walking towards the Orpheum and my bf said he was hungry so we stopped to look at the menu. One of the servers opened the door and handed us the menu. He then asked for COVID vaccination cards and said we could sit...at the bar. We ordered quickly because we were on our way to see the Louisiana Philharmonic on opening night. We ordered the BBQ shrimp, gumbo, and two glasses of wine. The food was unexpectedly amazing. I mean, we had no idea what we were in for because we were just passing by and the restaurant is located inside a hotel. Service was wonderful and this was hands down one of the best shrimp dishes I tried in New Orleans. The gumbo was pretty good as well, but fairly standard. I didn't get any complains from the bf because he's from New Orleans. He usually has a comment about the food and he was enjoying his immensely. We shared both dishes and I think I enjoyed the shrimp more. The wine was nice and we were sufficiently full before going to the symphony. If you're in the area, check out Laurel Oak for a delicious meal.More

I absolutely loved this restaurant for so many reasons. We started out with an appetizer of hush puppies and fried mushrooms. Both were exceptional… The hush puppies were as light as a cloud and the fried mushrooms were delicate and flavorful. For my main course...I had a local red fish with potatoes and onions. It was a perfect combination. The atmosphere and the service matched the food. The restaurant is modern and clean yet very warm. Our servers description of the menu items as well as his suggestions were spot on. We will definitely be back.More

We ate here last night and had a great time. Our server Diane, was very helpful and friendly. We tried a couple a different appetizers. The hush puppies were my favorite, followed by the burrata. The hush puppies were not too heavy and didn’t make...us feel stuffed after the first course. The hanger steak was delicious and cooked perfectly to my specification. We loved the blue corn cake with cherry compote for dessert. Next time I come back I’d love to try the shrimp roll.More

We loved our waiter, Patrick. We made excellent suggestions, kept us apprised of when to expect our next course, and our drinks were refilled perfectly. But that's not the best part. The food was delicious. My husband said he could make a meal of the...hush puppies. The flat iron steak was seared and done to perfection, and don't get me started on the fries finished in duck fat. Very French. The decor is beautifully modern chic. If we're ever back in NOLA we will return here.More

The drinks and food here were top notch. Very cool adaptations of the food and cocktail list, and great options if you're looking for New Orleans style food without the New Orleans calories. The Laurel Oak Biscuits are some of the best I've ever tried...(okay, so not everything is healthy - I'm just saying there are options), and I'll be ready to go back!More
