We never got to try the food because we waited 20 minutes , at the table, and decided in a city like New Orleans, Sylvain was a little fish In a big pond. The service and attitude was horrible. I made a reservation a week ahead and assumed, because this restaurant is known for their French Quarter courtyard. Well, we... More

We met my sister and her husband here for lunch. It took forever to get a mimosa - like a half hour. The restaurant was not busy so it was kind of disappointing. I also had a salad which was decent but nothing special. Located in the french quarter, it was definitely convenient. Just not in a rush to go... More

We came for dinner here on our last night and were pretty worn out. I had been eating for 4 days straight and was exhausted, so my review of the food would be a little unfair. The restaurant itself had a great atmosphere and this is one of those places I would like to go back to when I am... More

My husband and I had a lovely dinner at Sylvain. The atmosphere is cozy, and the playlist going the night we were there gave it a particularly romantic feel (the playlists vary, according to our server, so it well could be a different experience with a different playlist). We both started with a vegan soup. Incredible! I had the drum... More

We didn't have a reservation but we got lucky and they had a table available. The French toast is probably the best I e ever had. My husband had the short rib hash and it was also delicious. I'd definitely recommend!

In the courtyard. Excellent cocktails. Short rib hash was awesome and the crispy pork shoulder was not what I expected (it was a crispy disk) but delicious nonetheless. Grits were some of the creamiest I've ever had. Service was spotty. Good value.

We usually eat at 5 star restaurants so we do know what we are talking about. I find that it's important to make this qualification so that foodies can get a review they can appreciate. Too often I find reviews here misleading because the reality is most people don't know what quality food is. Anyway, the food here is first... More

Tucked out of the way on Chartres Street this little gem is worth a visit. It is loaded with atmosphere, from the decor to the (very) dim lighting. But its the food that's the winner. Artisan Cheese Plate and Peach and Tomato Salad were our starters on the night, followed by Braised Beef Cheek and Fried Chicken Sandwich, and all... More

I made reservations for brunch since the previous day, we waited for a table for 45 minutes as a table of four. There were five of us on this particular day. I had chosen to dine there based on friend's suggestions of where to dine while in Nola. Brunch seemed appropriate and so we made reservations for 10:30. Upon arriving,... More

This sweet gem in the French Quarter is worth the search. We arrived for dinner, without a reservation, and were seated in the outdoor area of this amazing eatery. Service was excellent, food was incredible and completely enjoyed this experience. This small eatery is on St Charles St. Their Moscow Mule is a fresh and very tasty. I had the... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
