If your looking for an escape from the crowds of bourbon street and the French district try this hidden from the street restaurant. Great for couples!!!

I have dined at Sylvain about 6 times over 2 years' time. I always finish thinking that I have spent too much for what I have gotten. The restaurant is dark and pubby. Good for getting out of the heat and sun. The courtyard is quite nice too. waitstaff is reasonably well trained but do miss some cues on occasion.... More

This place is very unassuming from the street and some people have trouble finding the entrance since you have to walk into an unmarked alleyway beside the restautant into the courtyard off which is the entrance at the rear of the dining room. It is also in a pedestrian friendly section of the quarter which is not real well marked... More

This place is so nice with great service, food, cocktails. Hidden down an alley, but with window views to the street. Very unassuming, but oh so pleasant.

I took a client and two guests here for dinner while in NOLA for a conference. There were four of us. I should have asked to sit in the courtyard outside. Inside the restaurant was almost too loud to have a conversation. However, that was my fault for not asking to change seats. My client got the chicken sandwich which... More

What a great place, in the heart of the French Quarter. We had dinner in the outside courtyard at the back of the restaurant which was a very nice setting. We started with a couple of cocktails before eating. Food was excellent all round with a good selection of wines. Great relaxed atmosphere in the courtyard and, even though it... More

It's a great place In the heart of french square with a great atmosphere. The menu is full of local food and the recomendation is the pork shoulder. Have an IPA to pair with the dish. It's guarantee!

I had read about their friend chicken sandwich that was offered as one of the best sandwiches on a local list. One of my favorite things in the world is fried chicken. Period. No need for the bread here for me. Puffy brioche is not for me. Perfectly cooked breaded chicken breast, crunchy, not too salty, flavorful. Awesome pickles, and... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
