It is one of life's great moments when one stumbles upon that rare gem of a restaurant. That moment occurred at Red Gravy. It is abundantly clear shortly upon presenting, that this will be a most enjoyable experience. The initial reason for this is the staff. If I did not know better, I would think they had an ownership stake.... More

My rating is based on breakfast only. I was sick of the hotel breakfast and decided to venture into Red Gravy. What a nice little place. Great food and very friendly staff. Wish I had gone sooner.

We stopped in on a Saturday at around 11am, and didn't have to wait to be seated. I had the Sicilian Egg Pie, which was fanfreakingtastic. It was difficult to choose, as the menu is large. They serve classics, but all with an Italian or local twist, like cannoli pancakes, or a pecan waffle. It's a cozy place, and the... More

Great food and great service. Be prepared to spend some money...a little pricey for breakfast but well worth it.

Went for breakfast with family. It was good. Probably, would eat there again. Isnt gravy made with a rue first? So isn't what they are calling a red gravy really a sauce? But it's a decent place to have breakfast.

In New Orleans, Red Gravy is the name for marinara. Some people also call it sauce, others call it gravy, and still others call it sunday gravy. No matter what you or your family grew up calling it, no marinara ever has a roux in it, ever. Traditional marinara or red gravy, as it's called in New Orleans is made... More

We happened upon this restaurant from a magazine in our hotel. The stuffed pancakes drizzled with chocolate were to die for! Quaint little place off the main street. Staff was great and most accommodating, especially when a party of 3 at a nearby table got rude and mouthy to the point where they were out of control and made quite... More

The food was excellent and so was the service. We ordered an appetizer, salad, pizza, and two main entre's. All of the food was excellent.

Enjoyed Red Gravy - which means marinara. All four of us enjoyed our food. Service was excellent with frequent water fills and happy attentive staff. Restaurant is large enough for larger groups, but call ahead for a reservation. It's about 6 blocks from the Roosevelt hotel, off Canal St.

It's okay. Service ok. Bolognese Sauce very good. Sangria on the low side. It's okay for a quick bite. Competition is tough in Nola.

Description
Bright and cheereful spot at the edge of the CBD, just across from the French Quarter. Red Gravy is a dedicated Farm to Table restaurant, sourcing most of our ingredients from local farmers, fishers and bakers. Currently listed as the #1 Brunch spot in New Orleans by OpenTable! Our brunch menu is comprised of traditional breakfast items, traditional Italian specialties like our handmade pasta and famous homemade meatballs, typical northern New Jersey/New York dishes and local, New Orleans favorites. Full service bar, cappuccino and espresso available. Come and eat, I always make too much!

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
