We happened upon this restaurant from a magazine in our hotel. The stuffed pancakes drizzled with chocolate were to die for! Quaint little place off the main street. Staff was great and most accommodating, especially when a party of 3 at a nearby table got rude and mouthy to the point where they were out of control and made quite... More

Enjoyed Red Gravy - which means marinara. All four of us enjoyed our food. Service was excellent with frequent water fills and happy attentive staff. Restaurant is large enough for larger groups, but call ahead for a reservation. It's about 6 blocks from the Roosevelt hotel, off Canal St.

It's okay. Service ok. Bolognese Sauce very good. Sangria on the low side. It's okay for a quick bite. Competition is tough in Nola.

This is a must restaurant if you are visiting New Orleans. It is small and only open for breakfast and lunch, but is so worth the trip. Anything that you order will be an amazing experience. Old secret family recipes. The service is wonderful, the staff friendly, the decor interesting. I especially recommend the shrimp and grits. This is always... More

I ordered the soft shell crab special and was pleased as punch. The atmosphere as soon as you walk in is so peaceful and funky. Love love love this brunch experience.

My family anticipated eating breakfast at Red Gravy after my wife had eaten there several months ago. The service staff was extremely attentive throughout and helpful with menu suggestions. We started with the meatball appetizer which was an usual but welcome breakfast choice. For our main course, we all decided on pancakes of different varieties - cannoli, praline, and the... More

We tried and tried to go here. They said closed on Tuesdays and open from 8-2 other days. We tried Sunday, Monday and Wednesday mornings. Never open. Don't waste your time and planning on them being open. We were hoping for a nice NOLA cafe but could not even go.

How unfortunate that you missed us! We open at 8am every day except Tuesday. We closed for a two day vacation Wednesday and Thursday, July 13 and 14, only. I took the opportunity of a slower time to visit with my children. A sign was posted on the door with that information. More

Saw a lot of great reviews of this place. IMHO, it is not as great as was depicted. Plus, it is quite expensive. Definitely not worth the value for money.

Roe's breakfast was fabulous. Staff was friendly and recommended Roe's breakfast when I could not decide. Very happy with Red Gravy.

Thank you so much for your kind words. It seems Roe's breakfast has become a staff favourite! Away on vacation for a few days, the first thing my adult kids were eating were meatballs with over easy eggs and red gravy! I guess it runs in our collective family! Thank you again, I'm so happy you were pleased. More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
