The ice is so smooth. It reminds me of the shaved ice in Hawaii. This place has unique flavors that cannot be found elsewhere. There is always a line but it is so worth it.

Try a stuffed snoball if you like ice cream. They put shaved ice in a cup, then a scoop of ice cream, followed by more shave ice, then pick your syrup flavor. I chose rootbeer, so similar to a rootbeer float and awesome. Nectar flavor was enjoyed by others in our group, pink in color, pure sweetness. We waited a... More

There is nothing like a Hansen's Sno-Bliz in the snowball market, not for longevity, not for quality, and not for price. Unfortunately, that last one will be a turn-off (along with the periodic long wait times), because it certainly is expensive for flavored, frozen water. My, but what flavors, and the closest to actual snow you will experience anywhere at... More

Ok, so I posted about Luke's shrimp and grits being the best ever. And how I waited five years after having a taste of a friend's dish to finally order and devour my own - twice(!) on my recent trip to New Orleans. So on this trip, I go to Hansen's and ordered a pineapple, coconut, passion fruit snow ball... More

No summer visit to NOLA is complete without a visit to Hansen's Sno-Bliz! Depending on the day of the week and time of day, the line can go down the block but don't be discouraged, it is worth the wait. The staff is very good and is intent on making sure that you make just the right choice from the... More

This place is not much to look at but the shaved ice is delicious!! We are familiar with shaved ice and this ranks right up there with the best we have ever had. They have tons of flavor combinations and toppings. The only thing that keeps me from rating this excellent is that it is hard to know what to... More

I never knew that snow cones were not created equally until I visited this little shop that has been in business for over 70 years. We parked on the street and just as I had read, the line was out the door and down the side walk. It moved fairly quickly. You have a lot of flavors, sizes, and options... More

I had heard about the legacy of this establishment for some time now. Even my old friend/my children's orthodontist raved about these sno-balls from way back when he attended LSU School of Dentistry! It was worth waiting in line for! I absolutely loved the cream of nectar and could not believe the variety! Can't wait to go again!

This place is amazing! The define the true meaning of a snoball. The ice is so soft it melts as soon as you put it in your mouth. I'm originally from New Iberia, Louisiana and now live in Houston. I've tried explaining to people multiple times what a snoball is and they don't understand. Everytime someone I know is visiting... More

Whenever I find myself in NOLA during the spring/summer my first stop has to be Hansen's - not fancy at all but the "shaved ice" with the multitude of flavors is outstanding. Good for an afternoon snack and to help you "cool off" during the warm muggy season

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighborhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
