We eat at nice restaurants year-round, but this was my wife's choice for our anniversary dinner. And what a great choice it was. The menu, the fresh ingredients, the preparation, presentation, and service were all great. Many of the dishes we selected were seafood, and many of them were Caribbean in origin and spectacular in adaptation. We are not big drinkers... More

Loved this place! Fresh. Fresh. Fresh flavors. Not your average tapas joint. Best I have experienced. Kids weren't excited about it but loved it because the food was SO good. Kind of small, not flashy. But cozy and serving VERY good food. Check it out.

Had the mango avocado salad with vinagrette and it was delicious. The cocktail menu was good too, we tried several ones. Good price-value!

Went early on a Saturday evening with a friend. Service was on par with a diner. My raw oysters came after my pulled pork....my friend's soup came after her tuna.....none of the dishes came at the same time so my friend was finished eating before I even began. So many other exceptional restaurants in New Orleans, I will put this... More

We live locally, and stopped by this place on a Saturday evening around 7pm. I hadn't actually been here before, but had heard good things. The place was half empty, and the hostess asked us if we had reservations ( we did not). We were seated outside which was nice except for the table had not been wiped down from... More

We ate here with a pre-Tulane graduation group of 19. We took up nearly 1/2 of the restaurant. They were very attentive to our every need. The lamb sliders, grilled steak skewers and Louisiana shrimp were phenominal. The atmosphere was cheerful and nice as were all of the staff who helped us. We will return here when we come back... We had a party of 8 dinning after a long day at Jazz Fest, and we were ready to enjoy a relaxing yummy dinner which is exactly what we got. The service was terrific. We all shared so many dishes that I cannot narrow down for you must haves because it was all so delicious. This is a small restaurant... More

I never ever write reviews for anything however this merits the praise. Delicious food combined with delightful ambience. We ate at 9 and it was super quiet. We sat on their terrace where only 4 of the 10 tables were full. I don't think many people recognize this part of the restaurant exists. They have a diverse selection of tapas... More

While wandering around Magazine we stumbled upon Baru and decided to give it a try. We were promptly seated on the upstairs balcony and found it to be comfortable and pleasant. Our server greeted us quickly and was attentive throughout the meal. The food was good. Not amazing, but good. I'm not sure what I expected and maybe I am... More

Staying in Garden District

Neighborhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
