Yes it’s a chain...that said the food is good and the service even better! We went fir lunch because it was so convenient to our hotel and came back for dinner because we couldn’t get a table at the restaurant at the hotel. The host said we could wait for a table which he quoted at 30 min...but closer to 20 min - fantastic! It was pretty crowded so shortly after us they were no longer taking walk-ins. One of the managers (?) remembered us from lunch and gave us an extra dessert. Both our servers were extremely attentive without being obtrusive. My very picky son loved his hamburger and grilled cheese that he later had for dinner. We had the chicken sandwich (delicious) redfish and smoked salmon appetizer. Everything was delicious ~

This place is a hidden gem and seems only known to the locals. The food and service were impeccable and rank right up there with finest New York City supper clubs. The atmosphere as soon as you enter is decidedly upscale and you are greeted with the finest jazz music. Every service personnel knew their assignments and executed them to perfection, starting with the matrie’d and extending to the bus people. Our waiter, Peter, knew the nature menu and brought my wife, samples of wine so she could tell which one she liked best. Peter was one of the most incredible waitstaff we have ever had in all of our years of eating out. He anticipated our every need. He is an incredible asset to this establishment. We cannot say enough about him .

Classic New Orleans flavor with great service! The staff is very inviting and the steaks are the BOMB! The crab cakes are authentic with lump crabmeat and the baked potatoes are prepared to a science. But it’s the dessert that will bring you back for more... Warm pecan pie a la mode will call you long after you have left the restaurant. Yummmmm!

For many years, we visited the Houston’s on St. Charles weekly, spending over $5000 annually. After a series of disappointing experiences, our last visit there was in September 2020. Our spend in 2020 was a bit over $5700, despite having not made any purchases from there in April or May during the shutdown.
During a recent trip to Houston, TX, we paid a visit to the Hillstone on Kirby, and were reminded of the reasons why we previously loved the Houston’s on St Charles — and painfully reminded of how bad the Houston’s on St Charles has recently become. Our experience at the Houston Hillstone highlighted the management issues at the New Orleans location.
Our friends agree with our assessment that the New Orleans Houston’s has declined in both food quality as well as service quality. Soupy salads, leathery ribs, and overcooked chicken don’t meet any standard for fine dining. Preoccupation with dress code or minor phone usage does not improve customer satisfaction. Unpleasant wait staff drives customers away as do empty water glasses while those at neighboring tables are frequently refilled.
After our trip to Houston, TX, it is clear to us that the management at the New Orleans Houston’s is causing their own performance issues. If Hillstone corporate wants our business back, they need to fix the problems at the St Charles site.

After another disappointing experience at Houston’s, we rethought our entire eating-out strategy. Why, in a city full of great restaurants, would we spend money at a George Biel owned national chain? We have nothing against Mr Biel, but amidst the pandemic, we think it is far better to spend our money at local restaurants.
Besides, in our opinion the local Houston’s has declined in quality over the past year or so. Several times, my Ribs were unusually dry. On two visits, they ran out of French fries. Really?? And on our last visit, my salad was overly drenched with dressing. Plus, The Jazz Band is gone, and we understand that the band leader is pursuing other interests. It’s just not the same Houston’s we remember from the past.
We’ve already shifted our eating out to other New Orleans restaurants, and we could not be happier. Hopefully, the Hillstone Group will fix their problems here.

Don’t Bother With This Restaurant. This was listed as a restaurant near our hotel that advertised themselves as serving American cuisine and having live Jazz. I checked the website and their menu online and it looked like a good choice for my wife and I. We made reservations but when we arrived, I was turned away initially because I was wearing sandals. I did not argue but left my wife while I went back to my hotel to change. On their website, it stated “No tank tops or flip-flops.” When I returned to the restaurant I asked the hostess about at this, she said that no sandals was their policy and referred me to their dress code that was printed on cards at the hostess station. These said the same thing as the website. I then spoke with a manager and he said it was a matter of semantics. I disagreed and said this is a matter of the English language.
After finally being seated and attempting to order; three different times the server had to return to our table to say that what I was wanting to order was not available.
This establishment as mentioned advertised having live jazz. They did not, and they are blaming this on COVID. I fail to see the correlation.
Overall, a terrible experience. We canceled our order and left. Ovoid this restaurant.

Had been going since opened and was my favorite in the city. Back when it opened and I highly emphasize WAS - their steaks were mouthwatering and ribs enormous and best anywhere. Those two items still very good.
Unfortunately, those are about the only positive things that can be said about it now.
As it got more and more popular, so did the prices with each visit. Not much variety now. Never minded the price increasing so much as long as the quality and variety remained the same.
Now, everything is overpriced and portions miniscule.
Side items are very limited. The salad that comes with ribs or steak is extremely small although their honey mustard dressing can't be beaten.
Even baked potatoes have been eliminated!!!
What steakhouse doesn't offer a potato with its steaks?
Other sides completely suck.
The tiny oysters on the shell weren't available last time I went and not on the menu - just as well cause tremendously overpriced and not worth it.
Suggest going to the Boulevard in Metairie for greater variety, larger portions and a similar version of what Houston's USED to be during it's first five-ten years.

I visit Houston whenever I’m in Nola, which is often, but today was the first time the service and food was sub par.
The waitress was not very engaging. While a malemanager who brought the food to the table was friendly, the female manager who apparently did not have much to do came to the table while we were finishing dinner to tell us about the policy about not using electronic devices, while we respect urr policy, it should have been brought to our attention before dinner, how rude.
I also ordered take, a filet and when I got home it was burnt and not even edible.
Although a difficult decision I don’t plan to return any time soon.😰😰

After having a couple drinks at Hot Tin roof bar we asked a few locals for dinner recommendations nearby and so happy they steered us toward Houston's. Dinner was amazing with lovely ambiance and fantastic service. Best crab cake I've had in my life!

Warning!! Warning!! Come on guys!! So now the original, perfect, 5 nut brownie that I have been eating for years and years at Hillstone/ Houston’s is NOW
actually a Black Forest 5 nut brownie! Cherries have been added. Disgusting!! AND, you are not informed of that until after you have bitten in to. The waiters/ waitresses do not inform you ahead of time! What they said to me was “ they snuck them in there, thinking nobody would notice!! I mean, REALLY?? Are you kidding me??

Husband and I arrived to hotel and were looking for dinner. Houstons smelled wonderful and so we stopped in, only to be told that they were not taking walk ins except in the bar. Tyray, however, is the type os person everyone wants running their business. He was smooth and professional. After we misunderstood the hostess's instructions, he set about to get us a table and, as it turned out, a wonderful evening. The crab cake was the BEST I've ever had. Just huge fat pieces of crab in a breaded coating. No filler....all crab. The Hawaiian steak was also amazing. Sweet but not ovwrwhelming, cooked to perfection. So glad we stumbled in and Tyray took us in!!

Very disappointed we booked hoping to have the ribs, our sitting was 6.45 and told at 7pm no ribs. Felt waitress was bit un interested and took her nearly 5 mins to open our expensive bottle of red which was a bit uncomfortable and red far too cold. Our last night in New Orleans not the best

My wife and I made reservations on OpenTable, we got there early and we were seated with no delay. Our waitress was training someone, and our service was flawless. The ambience was pleasing as room temperature was cool. We were out of tower, and our dress code was casual, but nothing was said to us. We didn’t feel out of place. We did like the idea that we didn’t hear any kids, we were able to enjoy an adult meal without any crying or screaming. Meal came out it was prepped with us in mind, it was cooked to our doneness request. The ribs were fall off the bone, peppers and broccolini was soft. My pork double bone in pork chops were at medium temperature, and pecan bacon shaved dirty rice was a surprise picking for me. I would have thought the bacon pieces would have been larger. I ask for more of the au jus for the pork. We shared a dessert which was an apple caramel cobbler, which put a cherry a top of our meal. We could have eaten the dessert and would have been satisfied. Great job everyone from the hostess, waitresses, servers, table preppers, and tot he kitchen staff.

Have enjoyed Houston’s for many years in Metairie and Atlanta. When greeted at the door was told I would have to take off my hat and not use my cellphone quote rudely. Is this a restaurant or behavioral business? Once seated I saw several people wearing hats! Why was I targeted? Ordered Hawaiian steak and baked potato and was told they were out of potatoes! Ordered hot bacon salad dressing and was told they no longer carry it. Was a very unpleasant experience for a $150.00 meal. Will never go to Houston’s again!!!!!!

Steak was very tasty and loved glaze but “a lot” of fat and inedible bites. Hubby liked ribs but nothing special. Service started great but ended slowly with long absence from waitress. Disappointed with quality and bill total.
