The Shrimp and Crabfish was awesome! Deffinitly to share not for 1 person though. Sharing makes the prices more reasonable. Deffinitly visit (especially if caught outside in the rain)

This was our second visit to Poppy's and the first was 3 years ago. Often, the second time you go somewhere that was spectacular, you are disappointed. Not this time! The steamed crab legs and shrimp were fantastic. The place was packed so we could only sit at the bar, but no matter. It would have been worth it to... More

This is a pretty nice spot with a view of the river. The drinks are strong, which I like. The service is pretty good, we had no outrageous waits or anything. The food is a mixed bag. There's no ranch dressing for the salads. The oysters were some of the larger ones we've had in town. But the calamari was... More

Stopped in this nice bar & grill after riding the ferry boat to Algiers. We actually needed a bathroom stop after walking (& drinking). This little place fit our needs. Unfortunately I can't review the food as we only had drinks. We sat on the patio talking and laughing in a relatively quiet area near the river. The service was... More

Walked a very long time to find they were 500 ft away from me. Called for location bad idea. They should have said we are across from the fountain in the Spanish Plaza or possibly said we are on the side of the ferry entrance. That would have made the experience more pleasurable. The waiter was good, although the hostess... More

If your looking for a place with exceptional seafood then you've come to the right spot. Your paying for what you get around $20 - $30 per plate. Enough food for 2 people regarding the seafood platters, unless your like my family and don't eat much until the end of the day then you can eat your own!

Very disappointed in the crab cakes which were all filling and little crab. The coconut shrimp was just okay. the key lime pie was not a pie at all but a little cake with little lime. very disappointing.

Thank mjm7

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
