Was in town for a University of Wisconsin tour and after several hours of walking in the cold we were quite hungry. To be honest we sort of stumbled onto this place which is on the second floor on State. Is was very good with...a friendly wait staff. I had the pozole soup which was great and my daughter had a sandwich that she really enjoyed. The chips are homemade and salsa is great!More

If it's cold outside…. Think 6 degrees or colder, Casa de Lara's black bean soup will cure your chills. Not only is it served piping hot in temperature, but it is so, so good! I also love their chicken enchiladas verdes, but always request 'just...a little cheese' otherwise it comes with lots of it. You get plenty of food and there is always extra to bring home. The lunch waitress is very welcoming and often remembers your likes and dislikes, from previous visits. I always leave warm, satisfied and content after my meal.More

We had a lovely lunch here. Very good black bean soup, excellent fajitas plate for $8.95. Salsa nicely spiced and smokey. We will definitely return.

This place is tucked upstairs on a building. They have a decent tequila selection and margaritas but the pitcher. The decore could use some help The chips were not impressive and the food was just o.k. However the staff was friendly and the food came...out fast.More

I hope there was some uncommon problem today. There were no customers ahead of us - We waited for someone to seat us - no one came or acknowledged our presence - after 10-15 minutes we just sat at a table. After another 15-20 minutes...wait staff showed up and took our order. (we were exhausted from walking the city, so too tired to walk out) Our food showed up after a very long wait of 30 -40 minutes. Food was good. We had to find the waitress when we wanted to pay. Atmosphere was fine.More

This is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the Madison area. Menu has several options to choose from. Service was excellent and or food was well cooked. There's a nice ambience and diverse crowd. We were there on a Saturday and did not have...to wait for a table. The place was almost empty probably due to being early in the afternoon and the U of Wisconsin students were out of town for spring break.More

Well worth visiting for the Raspberry Margarita's alone. Seriously refreshing & one of the best EVER! Was hot outside, thought as we headed up the stairs it would be super hot & sticky inside. Wrong, was a cool & pleasant, reminiscent of a memorable "vacation...atmosphere". Warm chips & authentic flavorful salsa were served almost immediately. Service was polite, fast, & accomodating. Asked to change things up a bit on the nachos. Perfectly prepared, generous proportions arrived for both the Taco Salad & Fiesta Nachos. Almost polished both of them off, addictive & filling. Definitely don't leave hungry, satisfied yes! Will be back. Intend to check out other tempting menu items on our next visit on the corner of State St. & Gorham Street (near Johnson St.). Parking ramp was nearby & fun to peruse nearby stores on our walk back.More
