I had a hankering for tacos, and I saw online they have a taco special, and we were looking for a sports bar to watch the NCAA men's bb Elite 8. Plus, we hadn't been to Sconnie Bar in quite awhile. Their taco special is...different every week, as I gathered. This week it was $2 each for fish tacos and Cajun chicken tacos. We ordered three of each. OMG. They were amazing! We nearly ordered a gross of them to go. They were over the top awesome. The sauce on the chicken ones had a nice kick. We couldn't stop raving about them. And at $2 each? It was a steal. I had two of the $5 Altos margaritas. Total bill was inexpensive. It was a great place to watch the game. Service was great. Just a really great night.More
Had the curd burger. It was good but I don't know why I ordered this burger. You can't enjoy a cheese curd when it is buried on a burger and all of the other ingredients. Will ask for them on the side next time. Many...beer choices and other food options. Typical bar food and wings. Will be going backMore
Three of us decide to take advantage of their free shuttle/parking for a UW BB game. Our waitress was friendly and especially accommodating to our 8 yr old grandson. We had a burger, salmon caesar salad and chucken tenders. The food was nothing special, and...I was surprised that a basic cheeseburger wasn't on the menu along with a long list of specialty burgers. Odd. The service was good, but they weren't very busy. The food was nothing special, but adequate. The shuttle was on time, and made the trip to the Kohl center easy and and warm. We'll probably go back, but mostly for the free ride.More
Close to Camp Randall Stadium, Cold beer, Great music. Really what more do you need in Madison on game day except a win. They have Bud Light Lime for the wife which is a bonus.
Four of us went there before a Badger hockey game at about 5:30 pm on Saturday. It was not busy. Maybe that should have been our first hint. The decor was typical sports-bar theme and it was clean and spacious. There were lots of tables...in the front part of the joint and lots more in the back. Most of the tables were empty. There were a couple people at the bar, too. We of course got seated right away and eventually the waiter came and took our drink order. I ordered a pint of Guinness. They did not have Guinness on draft, but they showed us a beer list so I ordered up a micro-brew milk stout and a glass of water. We also ordered onion rings as an appetizer. The waiter came back and said they did not have the milk stout, but suggested I try a breakfast stout, so I did. Other drink orders were standard - root beer, bottle of Lite and bottle of hard cider. Eventually the breakfast stout came, but it was in a small snifter-type glass. It was ok. My water did not arrive. The rest of the drinks did. The waiter took our food orders. We ordered three hamburgers and a chili-mac n cheese bowl. Two of the burgers were the same - their signature Sconnie Burger (brat and burger patty on bun) with chips. The onion rings came, and they were good. The main food did not come. They brought us another order of onion rings, but we had only ordered one, so we told them we had already gotten ours, we had not ordered a second one, and they took them back. Our food still had not come after forty-five minutes, and the place was less busy, rather than more busy. When we inquired about the food the waiter apologized and said the front was really busy so the kitchen had gotten behind. Eventually the food came. My Sconnie burger was ok - a bit cumbersome to eat, and only served with chips was over-priced at $12. The person who had the chili cheese bowl thing was satisfied with it. The person with the plain burger said it was fine. The cheapest thing was $11. The hockey game was about to start so we had to go. The bill came and we noticed they had tried charging us $6 for the second onion ring app which we had NOT order ed and did not eat and which they took back before even delivering it onto the table. They readjusted the bill accordingly, which took more time. We were able to catch their last courtesy bus to the game (which was a nice perk) but with burgers and chips and chilicheese bowl and onion rings and four drinks coming to $85 , we felt we sort of paid for the bus ride. Anyway, I loved this place when it was LUCKY's. I am not so enamored with it now and would likely not go back - Would hate to see what the wait would be if they were busy - wonder if that ever happens?More
The badgers were away for a football game but I still wanted to experience the feel of the fans cheering. Sconnie bar was the perfect place for that. Over 21 crowd of college kids cheering and High fiving everyone. The food was excellent! They house...make their own chips. Drinks were great. For every touchdown they’d come around with a free shot. Staff was super friendly.More
This place has great Happy Hour prices on drinks and 1/2 price Bar Bites!! Nachos are amazing! The Friday fish fry is really good and my husband is really picky about his fish fry's! Chicken sandwiches are yummy... BUT THE MAC AND CHEESE with Buffalo...chicken and Blue cheese crumbles is out of this world!! HUGE portion!! I would never order Mac and Cheese usually but my daughter ordered it and gave me some of hers.... Now I crave it!! Great service a must go in MadisonMore
This is a short walk from the UW Fieldhouse. They feature a pretty nice selection of craft beers. The food is pretty valid. We've brought our nieces (middle school age) here before volleyball matches and they enjoy the food and the atmosphere. The wait staff...is friendly, hardworking and pretty efficient (Alexis rocks!). We've taken advantage of their half price special on bar bites - I'm a huge fan of the jumbo walleye tater tots - so good if I were on death row I'd be requesting them for my last meal - seriously.More
