Located just down the street from Bath House Row, this restaurant is located under ground in a basement space. So it’s got lovely brick and stone walls and a nice ambiance. It’s so much bigger than you’d expect, too and we were so happy to...see that they were fairly busy on a weeknight since so much is closed in Hot Springs. That said, we were so excited to be having German food - a favorite of mine and my friend’s. First we ordered a potato pancake. They were really hot and freshly prepared and were delicious! Served with sour cream, my companion was disappointed that they didn’t offer apple sauce with them. She ordered sauerbraten and I ordered wiener schnitzel for our entree. I ordered German potato salad and red cabbage, while she had the German noodles and potato salad. Let me say, I LOVE German potato salad. My schnitzel was absolutely perfect! Hot, a light gold brown crisp, and served with lemon (and capers). Delicious!! The sauerbraten was less of a hit. It had a too-sweet flavor and way too much sauce. The sauce overtook everything on the plate. Neither of us loved the potato salad. I like thin slices of potato, lots of vinegar and some sweetness. And of course, bacon and onion. This was larger chunks of potato, and it was hard to discern the vinegar and little to no sugar. Different, that’s all. Not bad. Our other sides were fine. We ordered an Apple strudel for dessert. It was so good, and the presentation was lovely. We shared it and do it was delivered with two spoons and each had a dollop of a heavy dense whipped cream. The strudel was sitting on a cloud of delicious vanilla custard. The perfect accompaniment! And it was really nice and hot! I forgot to mention my perfect lemon drop martini! My friend had a lovely cocktail as well. I was quite pleased with my less-than-$30 bill as well!!More

The first time I came here, my sister recommended it. I did not remember it being great and I know why! It's a bar scene trying to be somewhat upscale. I had a reservation, waited for 5-6 minutes maybe more and the menu was huge!...I was not impressed with my appitizer at all. Why TF did I order Putine in America, I have no clue but Why the Hell is it being served at a German insprired resturant? The food is not good, it looks unapitizing and it did not taste good at all! Esspecially for the $$ price tag! Eiher be a bar or a resturant, SK should not be both!More

Most important thing about Steinhaus Keller - MAKE RESERVATIONS!!! I highly recommend Steinhaus. I love German food and lived in Europe for a time. I can honestly write that it offers authentic German food. As a family of 4 w/2 teenage girls, we ordered: -...Bavarian pretzel with bier cheese (there was definitely bier in the cheese) - Lamb lollipops - Goulash soup - Rolled-beef roulade w/seasonal veggies + mashed potatoes - Schweinschnitzel + pommes frites All dishes were excellent. The lamb lollipops were actually 2 Frenched chops cooked perfectly. The meat was so tender I ate it right off the bone using my hands. The roulade will rival any German restaurant in Europe; no one ingredient overpowered the other. The goulash soup had a nice balance of spices & ingredients - sometimes chefs use too much paprika or add too many of one vegetable...not so here as everything seemed in balance. The pretzel and schnitzel are standard fare yet were both delicious. Our food remained very warm as we ate. The expansive German beer offering was very welcome. I'm a fan of Schneiderweiss and I definitely didn't expect to see that in Hot Springs, AR. Portion sizes were average for American expectations, and very large vs a European eatery. We ended up taking enough food back for 3 additional servings. Service was prompt and attentive. We didn't feel rushed at all. Price/value is very good considering this is in a tourist area, has a large menu offering and the food is scrumptious. I can't emphasize enough the importance of reservations on a Thu-Sun timeframe. Otherwise you will wait 1 hour + if you are a walk-in. I used their online reservation service (Open Table) & it worked just fine.More

We had reservations at 8:30, and it had been a long, busy day for the staff. Regardless, they still were incredibly kind and continued to provide fantastic service- even when my daughter accidentally caused a spill at the end of our meal. Our server Ronnie...kept our glasses full and never made us feel rushed, even though it was the end of the night. There was a bit of a wait for our food, however, good quality dishes take time! We got the sausage and cheese board as an appetizer and it did not disappoint! It was well worth it!More

My husband and I visited for the first time on St Patrick's Day while visiting Hot Springs for our anniversary. We didn't have a reservation but were able to be seated at the bar without any waiting. We both enjoyed the cabbage rolls, beef stroganoff...and apple strudel and some lovely Belgium beer. Jake the bartender was very busy with the St Pats crowd but took very good care of us. I highly recommend this restaurant and the apple strudel was to die for. We live in St Louis MO and have traveled to Germany and Prague for vacations and this food is as good or better than anything we have had abroad. Do recommend reservations if you want to have a dining room or patio table.More

We had the best time at Steinhaus Keller! First of all, it's in downtown Hot Springs, which is so fun and has great energy. The restaurant has a cool cellar-feel or old-world feel but is well lit (important to me!). The service - Michelle -...was incredible. She was personal, attentive, made great suggestions, and super sweet. The food... INCREDIBLE! I was having trouble picking out which beer I wanted, so I ordered a flight and let Michelle and the bartender choose a variety, which was so much fun! We ordered one of the platters that had two sausages, four cheeses, a pretzel, fruit and nuts - Amazing! For dinner we had the Black Forest Schnitzel and Elk - Perfect! And, for dessert we had the locally made apple strudel (seriously, a local German woman makes the strudel for the restaurant) and the black forest cake - Decadent and perfect ending to our experience! Thank you and we will definitely be back!!More

Very good German restaurant downtown. A little hard to find but well worth the effort. Good beer on tap too. Very extensive menu with all of our favorites, so it was hard to choose. We had to take dessert to go, because there was no...way I was leaving without the strudel.More

Oh my word, what an incredible meal! Everything from the fruit salad starter to the warm bread pudding desert was exceptional. We got plenty of food to feed all four of us. They even made sure to include the horse radish with our prime rib....And what a great tasting and wonderfully prepared prime rib it was. The meal even included a varied selection of bread (with butter). The squash, greenbeans and potatoes were very good sides. We could not have been happier with our take out meal had it included a Dobbelbock beer! Easy online ordering too. 10/10 will go back again during next year's Christmas visit to Hot Springs. Thanks Steinhaus Keller for the great Christmas Eve Dinner.More

We came as a last minute decision and couldn't have been more pleased. The German sushi was absolutely fantastic. Brussel sprouts and fried potatoes are wonderful as well! To top it off the service and ambiance were stellar. We will be back!
