Food was good but overpriced. Service was slow and the young server was not knowledgable about the menu. Was surprised when served white bread rolls. We asked for rye or pumpernickle (sp) bread and were told it only comes in loaves when you order the meat and cheese plate. I asked if there were "kimmel/caraway" seeds in the kraut. She... More

I took my grandson, ages 7 and 10, here for lunch. We wanted to try something different. The atmosphere was wonderful and it was decorated very nicely. The service was just a tad slow and the food was a long time coming, which is the only reason I gave this very good rating instead of excellent, because the food was... More

Admittedly I have not eaten a lot of German food in my life time, and I am probably not a terrific person to assess the quality of it. We were here for an early (about 5 PM) dinner, which probably explains why at that hour, the average age of guests was about 65 years old. Younger guests were there by... More

Our family has visited the Rhineland on many occasions. The food is always wonderful. My husband spent several years in Germany and this is one of his favorite restaurants to visit. The atmosphere is peaceful and the wait staff are attentive without being overbearing.

We enjoyed authentic German food and beer. Schnitzel, spätzle, sauerkraut, German potato salad, lox, sauerbraten were all delicious. Not many German restaurants around, so when you find a good one, eat up -and we did.

I had been stationed in Germany with the Air Force many years ago, and I heard about Rheinland, so I was anxious to go. Quaint atmosphere pretty authentic. The service was good. The table was a little small for 4 people given the amount of food they bring out. The jagerschnitzel was awesome, took me back to being in southern... More

I always enjoy going to the Rhineland and do so 4-5 times a year. The menu is not huge but what they have is very good and well prepared. I feel it is a hidden gem for Independence.

Very simple nice clean restaurant . Nice wait staff. Food selection was large. Both the beer and food were good. Inexpensive specials. I would come back.

The Rheinland Restaurant is located on the square in downtown Independence, Missouri and serves wonderfully authentic and delicious German food. And, if there is someone in your group who doesn't care for German fare, there are American alternative items on the menu. But for me, it definitely whetted my appetite for German food, just like my Grandma used to make!!
