Had wanted to eat here for quite a few years now. We finally got the chance, dining room is as amazing if not more amazing than the photos. Service was very fast and friendly. We chose the tasting menu which was 8 tasters for $69AUD matched with 3 wines Prosecco, Chardonnay and a Malbec for $35AUD. We thought this would take the effort out of selecting our own, also they must be good if it’s their signature set menu. Without getting into every dish overall the food was just OK. The scallop and prawn dishes were overwhelmed by the curry sauce to the point you couldn’t taste them. The desert was an odd concoction, Not necessarily bad just a collection of different tastes. Wine was OK, what you’d expect for the price. Overall we left feeling underwhelmed by the food but the beauty of the restaurant certainly helped. There are certainly much better restaurants in Seminyak eg Bambu.

We stayed twice in this restaurant: both for lunch and dinner. The location is really elegant and attention to detail. They have a wine cellar visually very impactful, to be envied by many places of level. The dishes are good and you can opt both for more local flavors, but also for flavors closer to European ones. The service is very fast, friendly and attentive. The price is correct. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Seminyak or nearby. PS are also very attentive to the issue of intolerances, which is no mean feat when you are so far from home

This was a wonderful food experience. The ambience in the room (high atrium, low-level lighting) set the mood for what was to come. Estive was professional yet relaxed and friendly and efficient. Virtually every dish was top notch, including the amuse bouche of a chicken soup. The starters were superb, especially the Pangsit Jamur which was a deconstructed mushroom and pumpkin dumpling dish - easily my best food item I had in Bali and close to being the best in 2024 anywhere! From the young fella with us, the Beef Cheek main (Terik Sapi) was succulent and unctuous and my Javanese baby chicken Adam Lodho was fantastic. Only the blonde’s lamb main (Kare Kambing) was a pretender to the foodie crowd being unduly chewy. This did not stop this wonderful restaurant getting a ***** rating - highly recommended for a lovely night out.

Had a very poor experience here. Staff were very inattentive and sloppy. Table booked for 4 and when we were shown to our seats it was only set for 3! Had to ask for menus, only 3 bought to the table. Had to ask to order, ask for wine list and ask to have glasses cleared from pre-dinner drinks. Waiter had no idea how to open a bottle of wine. Had to refill our own wine and water glasses. Food was excellent but sadly let down by poorly trained and unmotivated staff. Expected a lot more for over $100AUD per person

Went for dinner last night we definitely won’t be back.Service sloppy, attention to detail poorly executed, no change of plates between courses,no wiping of spillage.Had to pour our own wine.Food very average and Underwhelming in flavours and presentation .Duck very tough and not edible. As all the staff totally ignored us ,I went up to cashiers desk to pay bill… the whole of the cashiers desk was full of dirty dishes! Over the evening we observed waiters delivering fresh drinks to tables and along the way they were collecting dirty glasses and adding to the very same tray that the fresh drinks where on.I feel merah putih need to go back to the basics of food and drink handling and service. Many good restaurants in Bali to choose from ,this is definitely not one of them.

Amazing Indonesian fine dining with allergen friendly options. The space is amazing with lit columns and vaulted ceilings that evoke palm trees and there are uplights in the various palms to cast shadows on the ceilings. Tumbling water features with live fish make you feel like you're dining in an outdoor courtyard while in air conditioned comfort. And the food is so tasty, and you can tell there's been extra care taken to layer flavours. From the kalimansi lime and chilli granita spooned over luxuriously large oysters, to the taste of toasted peanuts in the Gado Gado sauce to whatever they put in their sate sauce to make it super glossy and silky smooth as you dredge the barbecue chicken through it, this place is amazing. And they were able to help us pick out Fodmap friendly foods for my partner and double checked everything with the kitchen after we ordered it to ensure he'd be well taken care of. Thank you and we will hopefully be back again.

We finally made it here after several years of driving past and wish we had come sooner. We were expecting a fine-dining meal and received a fine-dining experience. The decor, greenery and music make for a magical ambience and the service was exemplary. From the minute our car pulled into the driveway until the minute we departed the service was excellent. We had several servers during the evening and they all worked together seamlessly. We opted for the tasting menu as a fun way to explore Indonesias finest offerings and the staff did not falter in their wonderful service. The first dish arrived prompt and we were able to choose the pace of the dishes whilst we enjoyed the settings and great cocktails. For fine dining, I highly recommend a visit here.

Glad to have found a place without Reservation, I unfortunately changed my mind. The location is beautiful and impactful, but the service is not at the same level. Sitting at our table we sensed an insistent bad smell and we came to the conclusion that it was the table, badly cleaned, that emanated it. We asked to clean the table and the situation improved a little, even if the dishes were not even odorless. All through dinner, we never had our cutlery changed, even though we had gone from cauliflower to octopus to meat. We requested a menu without spices for a serious spicy intolerance and were served grilled octopus on a bed of spicy cream. When asked by the waiter if it was to our liking we pointed out that it was still spicy and he replied that we were exaggerated and too sensitive and that for their palates that course could not be considered spicy. Like we threw a tantrum! Then we had some meat that was supposed to be grilled but honestly looked braised, not to our liking. Basically we were not satisfied at all.

One of Bali’s premier Indonesian cuisine restaurants is Marah Putih in Petitenget, literally translated in English means “Red and White” just like the Indonesian flag. This is one of those restaurants you want to be careful to not over order. While they do have a “feed me” option which takes away any decision making, everything on the menu looks amazing and I can not say a bad thing about anything we ordered which included 3 small dishes (prawn & fish dumpling, the chargrilled baby corn and the soft-shell crab) and on top of this we ordered the whole chargrilled fish with ginger flower, a side of sauteed local greens, chili and garlic and steamed rice. My concern about this restaurant which we did address with them directly on the evening we dined, was that we felt pressured to eat quickly. Literally after our order was taken a small bowl of complimentary soup arrived and almost immediately all three small dishes sat on our table going cold while we attempted to finish the soup. We had every intention of ordering a bottle of wine with dinner but given we’d not finished our cocktails by the time entrée was completed it was not worth it. Unfortunately, the shine of the wonderful cuisine was dimmed by the need to rush us through the experience.

We ate 9-course for 1.7 million which corresponded to just under 1200 SEK for two adults. It was incredibly good throughout. The restaurant itself and the environment were super nice and the staff was very service minded. Unfortunately, we think we were food poisoned by the raw fish we ate as our first course. We got bad for like 1 week but still think the restaurant deserves 5/5.

With the friendliest of welcomes, through the tunnel that separates the bar and cellar you are taken by the cathedral expanse and beauty of this gorgeous dining room. Large palms and tropical foliage add to the ambiance at both dusk and evening light. We were welcomed again on seating by Manager Argus who looked after us with great attention throughout dinner. We opted for the Tasting Menu with paired wines which albeit Western-ish pricing was great value for money. All courses some shared some plated were of high quality, standouts duck broth with a perfect soft boiled quail egg and a rendang(y) style beef cheek. Desserts were also memorable especially the creme brulee. The service was polished, attentative and courteous. The paired wines very good, highlight was the Californian Chardonnay. Argus continued to be a great ambassador for the business throughout the night and added to our most enjoyable experience. Can't wait to return. Highly, highly recommended.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant! We had the tasting menu and it was amazing! We had booked this before our trip from Scotland and we actually met the Manager of Merah Puti on our cruise, he was delighted to hear that we were going to dine in his restaurant and even though he was not working last night he popped in to see us. Fabulous restaurant, amazing food and fantastic staff.

The restaurant is coasting on its great look. It started really well, with a lovely welcome and great bar service while I waited for the table. Then became disappointing once the food started arriving. Basically, this is a good restaurant pretending to be a great one. I had the tasting menu with wine pairings. The wines were all wrong for the dishes. Starting with Prosecco (when you’re paying champagne prices), then an oaky Chardonnay that overpowered the taste of the fish etc. The food was fine but nothing special. A steamed bun with unidentified crumbed fish (a fancy, tiny McDonald’s Fillet’o’Fish really). Chicken with soy and peanut (the flavours competed with each other). The beef cheek was excellent though, as was the duck soup. The desert courses were forgettable. TBH I’d say go there for a drink, or a quick lunch, and skip the tasting menu. If you want fine dining, there are better options.

This was our 6th visit to Merah Putih and a must for us every time we visit Bali. We are always looked after by an awesome waiter, his name is AUGUS who has now become our friend. He even remembers the table that we sit at and the food that we previously ordered. He is forthcoming and honest when it comes to meal selection, including dietary preferences and the quantity of food to offer - we tend to over order LOL We come to Merah Putih for special occasions, mostly birthdays and Augus and the Restaurant Manager always make our dinners exceptionally memorable. On last few occasions, the restaurant has introduced roaming magicians who are amazing and add a nice twist to diners' evening. The prices are reasonable. Most meals are designed to be shared - tapas style. It's a bit of a drive if staying in Seminyak or Nusa Dua (largely due to traffic) but highly recommended! You won't regret it! xx
