At Mamasan you can step into colonial Britain in Shanghai during the 1920s, with marble top mah-jong tables and oversized tan leather chesterfields, in a purpose designed industrial high ceiling warehouse. Gaze up to Mama San in all her glory staring down at patrons while dining and ponder over a travelogue of old style photographs. Colorful displays of retro inspired flowers tower up to vintage clocks and a Chinese patterned mirror. A feature of the ground floor interior are two staircases either side of a service bar that climb a brick wall to the second level.
I went there last night to celebrate our anniversary, i came there as a walk in guest, no reservation, (fyi, we are local balinese).
When we came in, only 2 table there and 3guys standing in-front of the bar and 1 girl at the hostess...dest.
No greeting, nothing.
I came to the hostess desk and ask table for-2
I passed and tried to make eye contact with those guys (1 manager i think due to his uniform different & 2 waiter with black uniform)
What we got is nothing, no greeting no welcoming nothing, they are to focus looking at at 2 table with Bule.
Oh gosh, racist is still exist famous restaurant with local / indonesian guest.
No one care with my table.
Every time the server serve our food, we always say thank you, but no respond back from the server, not even mention what they are serving. We need to ask them to make sure we get what we order.
As soon as we finish the food, we ask the bill directly and paid the bill.
When we leave the rest,
No thank you
No found farewell
They are busy with the Bule guest.
Now days racists is still exist with local/indonesian guest.More

Om swastiastu dear Putu.
We just read your review. We truly apologize for your bad experience feeling last Thursday.
I wanted to inform you that Mama San restaurant team is Indonesian as well, and that the large majority of our staff is, actually, Balinese.
I have been here before and had good food, this time was also good but not great. The dumplings were a bit stogie and thick but the noodle dish we had was excellent. The staff were all very efficient and helpful, the beer was cold...and good drink selection.More
I always love to come here. Swanky decor, exotic flavors, you can't go wrong. Comfortably air-conditioned, spaced out seating and a nice bar upstairs to enjoy some cocktails while listening to loungy beats.
Food is amazing, service is really good (and fast).
Loved the recommendation from our waiter and his honesty, as I wanted to order more food, but he warned us it would be too much.
Will definitely come back on my next visit to Bali.
Went for lunch with no booking. No problem with tables.
We ate chicken wontons, Peking duck pancakes for entree. For main chilli basil chicken and lemongrass chicken. With Roti. All meals we flavoursome.
Could have eaten less.
Cocktails were fantastic.
Are here last night following several people recommending us. Arrived about 9pm with no reservation and sleeping 3 year old in tow. No tables but they offered a table in the lounge where we had drinks until they found us a dining table.
Food was...excellent and the waiter advised us to choose less dishes as we had ordered so much.
Great ambiance and delicious food. Highly recommend.More
