Whether it's eat-in, take out or delivery, Shang Hai is our extended family favorite. Hot and sour soup is more tasty than other local oriental restaurants. We have ordered many menu items and all have been very good. Service is fast and delivery food is very warm or hot. If you are in Gulf Breeze or Pensacola Beach, try them.

Reasonable food for the price

We ate two times during our stay in Pensacola Beach. My daughter liked the chicken Lo Main, sweet and sour chicken was not really good. I think for the price it's a reasonable place.

One of my favs

You can eat inside but I seldom do as I use for mostly take out. A single combo platter is plenty for both my Wife and I. Maybe add an extra egg roll. The food is not only large portions but fresh with lots of choices and taste great. The are also happy to comply with alterations to vegetable choices on the combo plates. Good, fast, fresh and very inexpensive. Sometimes you will find a member of the family snapping fresh green beans out front at a table. That's fresh!

I visited this restaurant on last week for lunch. I ordered the shrimp fried rice, chicken wings and egg rolls. The chicken has to many feathers still in it, and the freakin shrimp that was in the rice was old🤮 tasted old spoiled like, smelled spoiled. And while I was there sitting in the restaurant waiting on my food the dam cook the tall man went to the bathroom guys with his dam apron on and so that is a wrap for me. I will not visit this restaurant anymore and I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go. If we do not require more of these people in these restaurants to serve us in a dignified/clean manner and address this through reviews or a conversation in real time to call them out, then they will not do better. People are ignorant and know it but think you need their services when it’s the other way around.

We ordered delivery for Pensacola Beach. The food was delivered within the hour. It was piping hot and delicious! We ordered multiple entrees and it was excellent. Highly recommend.

Still looking for a good Chinese takeout

Went with two other couples as a neighbor (a single guy) told he went there for take out several times We have been looking for a good, reliable Chinese takeout nearby . This IS NOT it! I had House special egg foo young which was good except for the very salty gravy served on the side. That was the only dinner anyone ate to any extent. Three of the other four parties dumped more food in the trash than they ate. My wife had a Mongolian beef which was supposed to be spicy. Instead it was bland and very chewy. The only good thing she said was that the spicy mustard helped clear out her sinuses. Still looking for a good Chines restaurant nearby and will let you know when I find it.

Good Fortune Cookies, Disappointing Food

We ordered carry out and were very disappointed with the Egg Foo Young. It was greasy and scorched with watery gravy. I was told the Bourbon Chicken was roasted, then sauteed with vegetables and a popular dish. Sadly, the chicken was dry and tough.The Fried Rice was yellow, with only a sprinkling of vegetables and meat. The employees were very pleasant and helpful, and the restaurant is very clean, but that didn't make the food taste any better.

Guess I should have thoroughly checked the reviews before ordering take out here. YIKES! Ordered the Sesame Shrimp and Chinese Vegetables with steamed tofu. (also threw in a spring roll and egg roll). While the spring and egg roll were edible, the sesame shrimp was horrific. Took one bite and spit it out. Tasted like cardboard. The Chinese vegetables and tofu? What vegetables? Seriously -- there was about three sliced carrots, five sugar snap peas and one yes ONE slice of water chestnut. White rice tasted like it was a week old. If you are craving Chinese -- avoid this place!

"...I wish we had one of these at home!"

8 of us from 9 to over 49 tracked this place down fairly early in our return leg from a Griswold family style road trip to Florida and back because we were tired from the beach and wanted something filling and reasonably priced that we didn't have back home. This more than fit the bill and fed the clan. Even after stuffing 5 ravenous kids and 3 somewhat less hungry adults there were enough leftovers for awhile later when those with more amplified metabolic started sniffing around the car(s) for food again. Kids absolutely loved the lo mein and fried rice. Shrimp of all styles was great and I loved the egg rolls. Place was a bit hard to find only because mapping apps have it located in the wrong part of the shopping complex. Don't give up on looking! The venue is not very big but the food was hot, served in large portions, and was absolutely tasty. Yes the review title is a quote from a satisfactorily stuffed teenager.

Skip it and spare your stomach

Man this is truly not only the absolute worst Chinese food I have ever had the misfortune to eat, but the worst food I have ever had in my whole life. For some reason a very elderly relative likes this place so we decided to treat her to lunch here. Well I guess when you are in your 80s and all your taste buds have died, you're nearly blind, have no sense of smell left, and you have a stomach of steel, you can handle this nasty food. First, walk in and the place smells bad. That should have been my warning but I had already unloaded my relative and her walker, and my husband and kids. The staff was not friendly. I ordered general tso's chicken with wonton soup. The soup literally tasted like what I would imagine dirty dish water to taste like. The wontons were so dried out they were brown and crispy around the edges, even sitting in the broth. They were literally inedible. The chicken was mostly breading with very little chicken hidden in the sticky sauce. The pork fried rice had no flavor at all (for which I was grateful). My husband got pork lo mein and it was disgustingly oily. My son got chicken wings and they were also disgustingly greasy and the meat had taken on a dark yellow color! Horrid! We got drinks from their tepid fridge and they had no ice. I was unable to eat much of my meal but forced some down to appease my elderly family member. Let us just say that our toilet got more action than a prostitute at Mardi Gras. We were all sick as dogs for 2 whole days. Do not eat here unless your plans include sleeping on a toilet for a few days. I have no idea how this place has so many good reviews, unless they have gone down hill recently.

Good Quick Lunch

I hit this place a lot for lunch & its always the same, good food & good value. You can call ahead, or they deliver, or walk in - it just take a few minutes to get your order & be on your way.

Great take out.

This place is fast and you can watch them prepare it. For about $9.00 we can feed two at home and have enough left over for one lunch the next day. We have been going to them for years and have never been disappointed with the quality, speed or price.
