Good service - fresh fish

About as good as I've eaten anywhere. Sake was delicious. Stuck mostly to the rolls on the menu, but the chef will make whatever you want.

Ate here with friends. The food is always great and the staff is always friendly. They were very scarce with the Shrimp is my only complaint. I ordered shrimp, steak and chicken and got about 5 pieces of shrimp. The rest of my portion size was great

Fresh and delicious! I am very choosy about my sushi and Akashi did not disappoint! When Japanese visitors request to come here, you know it's great!

I eat here pretty regularly, and the sushi is consistently good. I've not found better sushi anywhere else. I appreciate that the sushi chef will customize sushi for me if I ask him to. The service is always friendly and polite, but the food almost never comes out fast (so don't go here if you're in a hurry). On the... More

I don't know why people complain about the slowness of this place, but if they want it fast, there is something called "Fast Food". AKASHI is definitely NOT Fast Food and I've been there numerous times now and I like it! There is this one thing about talking to the people who are with you and I feel like there... More

My only complaint is that meals take quite some time. Not ideal for a limited lunch break. That being said I believe they started pre-preparing some sushi for lunch to address this. (Used to make everything fresh at time of order) The sushi and other items are phenomenal and the owner (sushi master) and his wife are very nice and... More

Don't be fooled by the appearance of the building. EVERY good Sushi and food. Run by a family. I wouldn't recommend taking large groups here unless they're just getting sushi. Main dishes may come out at different times. Worth it

Akashi may not look like much, but it is a hidden gem! It's run by a husband and wife team alone, so service can be a little slow sometimes, as you would expect. But the food? AMAZING!! Authentic Japanese sushi and food served with pride and a smile. I have never had anything other than the best flavor and freshness,... More

One of the hallmarks of authentic sushi is that rice is seasoned with fish-stock, sugar, and vinegar. Theirs was most definitely not seasoned at all, with just plain rice. Flavor was off by a mile. The rolls were a little loose and uneven, a sign of someone who is just learning how to make sushi. I should know- It looked... More

One of the key watchouts for authentic Japanese food is to look at the tempura coating (if that is available). It should be light pale yellow, crispy and should have a lot of crispies as coating. Akashi's tempura coating is like fish 'n' chips type batter. The sushi was tasty enough but it didn't taste like good Japanese sushi. Also... More
