We stopped at Harper's for a lunch that was very good, but not great. Our selections from the menu consisted of the Fried Oyster Po Boy with a side salad and a Wedge Salad with added grilled chicken. The Po Boy sandwich's oysters were flavorful...and fried to perfection, just not very large. The sauce on the sandwich went well with the oysters, lettuce and tomatoes. The side salad was a fresh mix of greens and the usual partners, with Thousand Island dressing. The salad was very large for a side salad - actually more than enough with the sandwich. The Wedge Salad was good as always - the addition of grilled chicken was a little disappointing due to the cost/quality & quantity ratio. All in all, we were very pleased with our lunch at Harper's, it just didn't "knock it out of the park".More

Three of us went there today around 1:00PM. We were immediately seated. Restaurant appeared clean (as did their restrooms). Staff wore masks. Most guests coming in while we were there were not wearing masks when they entered. Service was excellent - waiter attentive and obviously...experienced. We had the parmesan truffle fries as an appetizer and they were excellent - probably the best I have had in this area. Two in our party had the blackened salmon & avocado wrap. Both indicated the wrap was good but not spectacular. The wrap included lettuce - tomato - cheddar jack - chipotle sour cream - fire roasted salsa - whole wheat wrap…which did not leave much room for salmon and avocado. I ordered the fried oyster "po boy", based in part on the server's recommendation and because I love authentic made po boys and didn't recall ever having a po boy in NC. New Orleans style french bread is a must for a true po boy. The bread needs to be crisp and flaky on the outside and fluffy - almost like cotton candy - on the inside. The bread on the po boy I was served was soft and doughy from the inside to the outside. It tasted like canned/frozen bread dough. (I wish I had taken a picture of our food!) The inside had shredded lettuce, tomatoes, remoulade, and fried oysters. The batter on the oysters was very salty. One of the advantages, besides taste and authenticity, of using bread with a crisp crust is it prevents the sauce, tomatoes, etc. from making the bread soggy all the way out to your hand holding the bread when eating. Disappointed...More

We decided to have brunch here, not having been in a while. The restaurant was spotless and well spaced, in keeping with CoVid rules. Jessica, our waitress, promptly, courteously, and efficiently took our orders and looked after us. We each had omelets, one with side...of baked sweet potato and the other with collards. We split apple/pecan cobbler with ice cream for dessert. Hot tasty coffee. Our food came promptly, and was attractive and delicious. Quiet pleasing ambience and fair pricing. We shall return.More

We have enjoyed Harper's many times in the past. Last night's visit was horrible. You cannot blame this one on Covid. There were 4-5 employees at the outside tables on break and smoking. The nasty smoke was blowing right to the front door. We entered...gasping for air and then told to put our masks back on. We were seated and handed menus with very little on them. We sat there as the server came to ask us about drinks. We then told her about the smoke and the menu. She agreed about the smoke and said it's always like that when people are on break. It was 5pm. We got up and left. We were so disappointed.More

Too Unreliable. 50 other restaurants are open for support thru covid— not Harpers. When they finally were able to open they only have 3 salad dressings? Wendys, chickfila and McDonalds offer more options. Harpers functions with an absentee management carelessness that does not deserve support.

very time we ride by, Harpers always seems to be packed. So we were curious as to what all the hype was about. Turns out we weren't all that impressed. Food was good - not great. It was a tad bit on the pricy side...and not filling at all. I had the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes which consisted of 2 small 'fried to a crisp' cakes, arugula salad and 2 fried green tomato slices. My date ordered a steak with baked sweet potato. He said it was very good, but he also did not leave feeling full. Our waitress was wonderful. It was a nice atmosphere, but for $60, I think we'll find that atmosphere at another location.More

We went back to Harper's after several months since the last time and found both the food and service excellent. The servers are friendly and informative and the food was cooked to perfection.

We both had burgers. One with side of fries, the other a side of pasta salad. At the price point, I could think of other places to eat. Basically 40$ with a 20% tip. The burgers were ok, and the pasta salad was good. The...fries were a greasy mess. I wouldn't order those again. All of the wait staff I heard talking to customers were extremely friendly! All seemed very nice and attentive.More

Our server was very inattentive. Didn’t appear that he wanted to be working today. Ordered Asian Chicken Salad which is normally a favorite, but the chicken was very dry and leathery and hard to chew. Normally don’t have an issue with the food, but seems...like you either get a very good server or one who isn’t interested in serving anyone.More

Hi, I am not sure about their menu for Thanksgiving Day. To be on the safe side, it would be best to give them a call.
