Great place for families or large groups!

I met here with a group of cousins in December of 2019. There were about 17 to 20 of us and Cafe Pasta accommodated us easily. A more private space and group menu options were offered at the time of my reservation; which was great. Our space was available right on time. Food was brought out quickly and EVERYTHING was good! The waiters were very attentive and friendly as well. Each of us constantly commented about how good the food was and how reasonable the prices were. We had multiple pasta dishes, salad (Which was not some iceberg lettuce thrown together with shredded carrots. It was SO well prepared and filling.) and garlic bread. My only reason for not giving a 5 star review was because after we'd all picked over the food, they don't allow you to take what's left even after you've paid for it. The food for groups is priced per person and displayed buffet style and when you leave, my thought is that they throw it away. Not being able to take what we paid for is my only complaint. We drove there from Charlotte, NC and plan to do it again. It was great!

Still Great After All These Years, Including Lunch and During the Pandemic

This family-owned restaurant has been in business here for decades and we have enjoyed our visits. We have not been in a while ... but decided to drop in for lunch recently. The restaurant was clean and neat as we remembered, and spacing and cleansing practices are clearly in place. We each ordered pasta and split a salad. My spaghetti Bolognese was fantastic ...never had better anywhere, including Rome or Florence. My wife much enjoyed her tomato/lemon pasta as well. The salad and bread service was delicious, and service skilled and prompt. Ray, an owner, was cheerful and his banter made us feel especially welcome. Portions were generous, especially for lunch, and the lunch pricing most reasonable. They are willing to tweak any meal to your preference ... just ask Ray. They also do well-priced takeaway family dinners and we got menus and plan to try that before long. This is an Italian restaurant that knows how to do it RIGHT.

We have done take out from here twice now and the food is good. I ordered the special (Grouper Risotto) and my husband had the Keto Chicken Parmigiana and both were very tasty, good portion size, and reasonably priced. Menu has a lot of choices, a special Keto menu, and they are very flexible with any special requests.

Went with a group of people from work while we are all there from out of town. They were able to put us upstairs so we could all talk and eat. It was very good. I had the grilled chicken and roasted potatoes. Just wish had a few more beer selections. They serve you with bread and pasta sauce when you sit down

Probably one of the worst dining experiences I have had. Ordered the Chicken Marsala over Gemelli pasta. The waitress asked if I wanted my chicken fried or grilled. I assumed the fried chicken would be thin slices sauteed in a skillet. What came was a huge, whole breast with a thick breading. There was a thin layer of brown goop on top which was supposed to be the marsala sauce. The pasta was ice cold and obviously precooked straight out of the fridge. The sauce tasted like a McCormick packet mix. I complained and my plate was taken away to fix the problem. The dish came back in around 5 minutes with the chicken super hot and the pasta barely warmed through, so maybe the microwave was having a bad night. The dish was inedible. My wife ordered the Linguine Rustica. This was advertised as sauteed chicken and shrimp with sun dried tomatoes, olive oil, lemon, herbs, Parmesan and mixed greens over linguine. What arrived seemed to be the main ingredients swimming in chicken broth. There was no lemon or herb flavor. The 'mixed greens' were two pieces of lettuce! Weird! We were offered a free dessert and a free meal the next time we visted. We won't be taking up the offer. This was just the worst, mass catering quality food. The fact that Cafe Pasta can't even get pasta right speaks volumes. We won't be returning and I would urge anyone to look elsewhere in the city for better Italian food, including frozen entrees from Aldi.

My "go to" restaurant!

This is my "go to" restaurant in Greensboro! We love everything about Cafe Pasta. Ray and his team always make us feel special and even will create unique dishes just for us based on our preferences. Cafe Pasta is a quaint neighborhood restaurant where everyone knows your name. Feels like home everytime we go in. Congratulations on being one of Greensboro long term restaurant heroes!

Food was very disappointing

Food is mediocre at best. I ordered the "almond crusted" salmon. To me "crusted" means the top of the salmon would be toasted with crushed almonds. Well maybe it was, but then a thick, gloppy sauce was spread all over the top. The sauce was way too heavy for the fish and had the same taste of the herbs that were sprinkled on the grilled vegetables. Difficult to taste what herbs were used. I also think they were dried herbs, which seems like a sin, since fresh herbs are so abundant this time of year. My friend gave me some of her shrimp and scallop pasta dish and the sauce on it was the exact same as on my salmon. She also thought it was too heavy and overpowering. Another friend ordered a shrimp pasta dish with a red sauce. She usually cleans her plate, but this time she left more than half the food. Needless to say, we won't be returning!

Special Pasta Menu

Wonderful Atmosphere, Great Food and Friendly Staff! This restaurant may seem a little bit hard to find so be sure to look up for the red cafe pasta flag hanging over the sidewalk. Here is a couple of my favorite dishes while visiting; Fried Chicken Parmigiana and Three Cheese Tortellini with an added Chicken. Both of these are favorable and very good! In the photos you will see Bacon Wrapped Chicken With Bowtie Pasta in a Creamy Tomato Sauce an the second pic featuring Alfredo Sauce. Delicious!

Dinner was at least 15 minutes later than needed, mine was mediocre, but asking for the check took us standing up and ready to walk out. At least 15 minutes just sitting there. Usually a good experience but won’t go back this time.

Great food, service and memories!

My extended family along with friends came to Cafe Pasta to celebrate my birthday. We had ordered a buffet style Italian dinner with three entrees. Shrimp alfredo, penne a al vodka with chicken and baked ziti with meatballs. Everyone was VERY pleased with the quality of the food (even buffet style!!!!). We had our own private area and the service by Stacie was excellent. And the cost of the evening for our group of 24 was VERY reasonable. Recommend for casual dining, parties or family gatherings.

Very good food and service. We liked a lot the customer service and will back soon to try new dishes. The restaurant is in a very nice area, and it is very beautiful with a lot of areas to dinning. The only thing that I miss is the Italian songs to create the atmosphere even more Italian.

Family dinners for take out are great

We have gotten two family meals since the stay home order. We have gotten the chicken piccata and the lemon chicken. Both were great and plenty of food for 4 people at a reasonable price. Cafe Pasta has been around a long time. I hope people will support it during these tough times.

Bad customer service

I went to this place with my family. The customer service was very bad. I had a large party and we were treated very rude. We had to wait a long time to get served and the food was average. I complained to the manager and got even worse service. I will never eat at this place again.

Another first time experience. Very enjoyable ambiance. Love the art work. Staff courteous, friendly and attentive. Chicken parm very good. Veal piccata delicious. Fried zucchini also very good. Dessert was cheesecake. Disagreed with waitress on quality of dessert. Reasonably priced $$.
