About
Smoky Mountain Trout House prides itself on offering absolutely the freshest trout in Gatlinburg. Our trout are ice packed directly to the restaurant. Once it has arrived we take great care in our preparing your selection exactly as you like. All of the trout served in this restaurant are Rainbow Trout, grown in the sparkling clear waters of the Smokies. The purity and flavor of mountain trout offered great pleasure to the original settlers of the Smokies. So... have a seat, rest a spell and you, too, can enjoy a special treat... real Smoky Mountain trout! Thank you for visiting us and remember to treat yourself to trout... It's as good as all outdoors!

Fish was served with tons of paprika. My friend said her steak was the worst she had ever had. PS men's room is up a flight of stairs (like fifty steps)

Thank you for giving us a try James: Yes! With the building being the oldest in Gatlinburg, the bathrooms are on the next level. 20 steps- not 50. Thanks again.

My wife and I read the reviews and decided to try the Trout House while we were in Gatlinburg. It was good. We both of course had the trout. Cooked well, and the service was good. I would recommend this restaurant...nothing fancy, but good food.

Nice to have the choice of trout ten ways in this meat heavy town. Unprepossessing restaurant but good fish and sides. Mine was grilled and my husbands ‘Dilly’.

We were down here for a wedding and ate way too much bad for us food, so we starting looking for something we could feel good about eating, after searching the web for local places we found this one and gave it a try. Out...standing. the food was great, service excellent and left feeling like we did good for our bodies.More

The Trout maybe the star here, but I liked the Hushpuppies and the freshly fried potato chips a lot better. These are complementary and taste so good. The restaurant is on the main street a bit away from the center. You have free parking across...the street. The interior is older but quaint and fits the area. Service was great. I ordered blackened trout and it was well done and tasted good. A very good meal at this restaurant.More

Eisenhower Trout was traditionally fried, chose fries and coleslaw as sides. Each table got basket of fried chips and hush puppies as appetizers. Served Hot. Quaint dining area. We really enjoyed our dinner here.

Most people where I live (Alabama) associate a fish dinner with either catfish or saltwater fish. It's rare to find bass, bream, crappie, trout, et al on a restaurant menu so when I was visiting Gatlinburg, I made it a point to visit the Smokey...Mountain Trout House. Dining space is limited so the atmosphere feels intimate. Our server was attentive and very pleasant. I ordered the Grilled Trout and it was a large filet (watch out for small bones along the fin lines) and cooked to perfection. It was very tasty. My baked potato side was huge! This is not a fancy, gourmet dining spot but it is a good, simple place to eat in the heart of Gatlinburg.More

My wife and I were in Gatlinburg TN this week and after riding the chair lift and crossing the expansion bridge decided we wanted a seafood dinner. So off to Smokey Mountain Trout House we go! Now if you want fine dining, dinner napkins with...fine china place settings this is not your restaurant. If you want a fish camp decor and a somewhat dated restaurant with good food then this is your place!! I really liked the tapestry type wall decor. I had seen this pattern of material in quilt stores where my wife shops but had not seen it used as a partial wall covering. It was different and kind of nice. we both had trout prepared differently (we do that sometimes when I plan to do a review) to experience two different types of trout preparations. Both or our dinners were very good. My wife had the Eisenhower trout (whole trout, deboned but left whole) I had the butterflied fried trout, fileted which was very good. Just the right amount of breading! Due to the cost of tea and soft drinks at all restaurants now we had water with lemon. As I wrote previously this is a local seafood restaurant that has been around for a long long time. It is dated but the restaurant is clean, friendly and has good food! There is an up-charge for a couple of the sides. The side salad with the blackberry vinaigrette dressing was excellent and worth an extra dollar. I recommend this restaurant.More

We had a variety of trout offerings and all were very good. Just a little disappointed with the sides, as they seemed rather generic.
