After waiting in line for 10 people in front of us doing individual meals, the cashier taking our order was very professional and courteous.
We came during the month of November and the Johnson family businesses are offering 50 % discount.
Food was served within 5 minutes by very friendly server and the subs are amazingly good.
A definite must try and the best part it’s not in the hectic town center.

We ordered subs, chicken tenders, fries, mashed potatoes and gravy, etc. Everything was delicious. The chicken n dumplings were the favorite, piping hot, tender, great flavor. Highly recommend.

We were looking for a nice, quick sandwich lunch today, so we stopped into JOE and Pop’s Sub Shoppe. We found that it shared the same serving counter with the Mama’s Chicken Kitchen restaurant, so it’s basically all the same place. But either way, we were really blown away by everything we had there. The Philly cheesesteaks were great, the Italian sub was about the best I’ve ever had, and even my picky 9-year-old loved her hot dog. But the star of the show was the chicken ‘n dumplings that you could get as a side, which were better than just about any we’ve ever tasted. If we go back (which we plan to do), we’ll be getting extra bowls of that! Definitely worth a visit, especially if you’re trying to avoid the congested areas of the Gatlinburg parkway.

Our first visit to JOE and Pop's, was on a Saturday for a late lunch take-out. This place is two restaurants in one. J.O.E and Pop's shares the same dining and ordering area as Moma's Chicken Kitchen...so one place, lots of options. We ordered the "JOE" size (regular) for both the Italian Sub and the Philly Cheesesteak. Also, the dark meat (thigh and leg) fried chicken with the macaroni and french fries as the sides. All three were OK. The person taking the order was very knowledgeable and efficient. There was only a short wait for the food to come out. The only serious dislike was the $2.59 sodas...the cups were small so for take out, definitely not a good value. There are a lot of options on the menu including salads, chicken wings (bone in and out), hot dogs, chicken livers and a couple of grilled chicken options.

We stopped here for lunch the other day. They had an easel at the door with their menu and a piece of paper was taped to the top that said Today’s Special Cheeseburgers. We decided that’s what we wanted and after waiting in line we attempted to order this and the employee said they didn’t have cheeseburgers. We told them that’s what the sign said so apparently that was the previous days’s special. We were looking forward to cheeseburgers at that point so we had to change plans.
My husband ordered the chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. He said it was okay but not as good as KFC. My meal didn’t go as well. I ordered the open faced roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes. My main complaint was the bread. It was toasted and hard to cut up with a plastic knife. It was buttered toast with a strong garlicky taste. This was nothing like an open faced roast beef sandwich I’ve ever had. One good thing about the restaurant is it was very clean.
I might go back and try the chicken meal but I doubt if I will get another sandwich from there.

My boyfriend and I went for lunch here and got sandwich platters. I got tuna, which was good. The coleslaw side was delicious and so were the fries. We came on a Tuesday an hour or two before they close and the wait was long. We returned on Wednesday for lunch for a chicken breast and thigh meal with a turkey sandwich meal. Delicious fried chicken!!! The mac n cheese was also VERY delicious! Barely any wait on the Wednesday, but we did get there a bit earlier than we did on Tuesday. Worth it if the wait isn't super long!

J.O.E. and Pop's is connected to Mama's Chicken Kitchen. We ordered Reubens, Chicken cheesesteaks, friend chicken, chicken & dumplings.
You can order from both menus and combine sides from both menus. We enjoyed this restaurant so much that our family of 5 dined here twice during our vacation. The indoor dining is peaceful. Parking is plentiful on site. The restaurant is located about 10-15 minutes from downtown. It's nice to get away from the congestion of downtown. Enjoy your meal!!

Once we finally got our food it was fantastic. However, we waited 25 minutes another table of 6 got there food that arrived after us. I asked the lady that drop off there food she said she would check on it. Turns out that they lost our ticket. They where nice about it gave us some banana pudding. But waiting that long i would have thought they would have refunded the meal. If it was not close to 900 pm which is when everything seems to close we would have went somewhere else

We wanted a quick bite and are avoiding downtown Gatlinburg at all costs (traffic, COVID) and found this place just down the road. It was clean, reasonably priced and the staff were friendly. We had a Philly cheesesteak and a chicken cheesesteak with fries, mac and cheese and beans to go. They have a wide variety of deli sandwiches on the menu, but are apparently known foe their cheesesteaks. The sandwiches were delish, fries were well seasoned and the beans were yummy! They have an adjoining fries chicken restaurant as well.

Order food for pick up and it was actually pretty fast. I ordered a Reuben sandwich which looked really good, but the meat was very fatty. The chicken wings were fried, but I prefer them naked with buffalo sauce. But still good.

We were struggling to find somewhere away for the main drag for dinner one night and happened to find this place. The parking lot was pretty full so we figured it must be good and it was. We decided to get it to go since our son had fallen asleep in the car. I ordered the Hoosier Daddy which is a Fried Pork Tenderloin Sandwich with lettuce, mayo and mustard. It was very good, the tenderloin was huge. The only thing that could have made it better was more sauce, but it was still very good. My wife loved her toasted Italian Sandwich, and my son's Grilled cheese was very good. It looked so good that I had to try a bite. The fries were really good as well. I will say the wait to order was long, there was a line past the door and only one person taking orders. I waited probably 15 minutes to order and another 15 or so to get my food, not too bad. Overall, we were very pleased and would definitely come back again in the future.

Just got back from a trip to Gatlinburg, we ate here twice, it was so good. Hands down best Cheese Steak I've ever had. Wings were good, mac and cheese was great, fantastic chicken and dumplings. Will for sure come back again, can't wait to try some of the other menu items. Prices were very reasonable for the area. Service was quick, almost as soon as you find a seat someone is bringing out your food.

The fries were the only thing considered good. Soupy mac and cheese out of the box. If you're gonna have a Reuben, have real corned beef not whatever you present. Poor. And at 19$ way over priced
Learned my lesson.

The food was delicious, especially after a long day of hiking. Great comfort food. We visited twice and would have gone back a third time, but got back to late from our hike. We had the chicken and dumplings, chicken fried steak, grilled chicken, fried chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes with gravy, and Mac & cheese. Everyone was super friendly.

We stopped here for our first visit back in September after seeing some advertisements. Our food was good and fresh, but we ended up spending nearly $40 on lunch. However just about anything in Gatlinburg is a little pricey compared to home. The staff was nice, things were extremely clean, and they did a great job with distancing due to the pandemic.
We did enjoy our food and may return at some point. I want to try the adjoining restaurant which I believe is Mama's on a future visit.
