The US Customs agent suggested that we try this place for lunch. Very interesting story behind this lodge. Service was excellent and food was delicious!

It was worth the stop to see the interior of the restaurant. Also a wonderful view of Lake superior with a small beach. The food was good. My daughter loved the grilled salmon. Wait staff were friendly and the service was very good. If we were staying, I would also have tried the brunch. The fireplace in the dining room... More

This lodge sits about 15 miles north of Grand Marais and if you're anywhere nearby, stop here for a meal. We ate breakfast here and I haven't had blueberry pancakes this good since we visited Maine. I recommend trying their blueberry/wild rice breakfast sausage. It was so good we took some home with us. The service was excellent. Our server(Khan)... More

Nice find for a great breakfast. the best french toast around. there was a lot to see in one location and a small walk to the lake. the inside decor from the 20's was colorful and unique.

My family of five with teenage girls satisfied tired, cold, and hungry hikers I walked in and was afraid we were under-dressed, but the staff was very welcoming. We stopped for lunch; most of us enjoyed the hikers special of 1/2 sandwich and a cup of soup. One of the better French Onion soups I have had in a long... More

The decor is so cool, they actually sell a picture puzzle of it! The food is acceptably somewhat above average and well matched for a way, way up north lodge environment, but it's not the main reason to come here. A grand field stone fireplace at one end with plenty of windows takes you back to the 1920's and 1930's.... More

My wife had wanted to go here for some time. So we went to celebrate our anniversary. The building's interesting history did not make up for the mediocre meal I had. The pork loin was burnt but they did give us a complimentary dessert. Still if the food quality was better they wouldn't have to do that.

We were really looking forward to having a special dinner here. We were disappointed because the quality of the food was not worth the price. It is a beautiful dining hall, but better for couples and not families. It was a very quiet atmosphere. There were also several flies that were bothering us at our table. The service was good... Friends told us we must eat here when visiting a Grand Marais - I'm so glad they did! Beautiful and colorful dining room. We got there right at 5:30 when they opened for dinner. Great service - we were hungry after making several scenic stops on our way from Duluth. We both had the fabulous onion soup - excellent. Pork... More
