This place has great fish chowder and tasty smoked fish. I really enjoy the Lake Superior Caviar too.

Traveled to Grand Marais Mn. and was to to go to The Dockside Fish Market for fish and chips. We ordered the Lake Superior Waleye. It was so fresh I thought it was going to jump off my plate. It's more of a fish market than a restaurant but the food is good. While you are in Grand Marais check... More

Purchased whitefish for a dinner we cooked for friends. They loved it. The folks working there are very helpful.

My first visit to the Dockside proved to be one that will make me come back for seconds! I got there just before closing time and ordered the Fish Fry Basket (Whitefish) to-go with fries and coleslaw. Everything that needed to be hot was hot and if you prefer lighter coleslaw, this is your slaw. Very inviting and friendly employees!... More

My husband and I chose to eat here on our visit to Grand Marais. The family who own this actually catches the fish and then also cooks it for you. They also supply the fish to the other restaurants in Grand Marais including the two fish restaurants that are located beside and across the street. Those places charge high prices... More

Recommended by some locals. Whitefish basket was very good. Indoor and outdoor seating with a nice view of the harbor. Prices were very reasonable. Nothing fancy but clean, efficient and friendly.

My husband is very sensitive to spicy foods. He ordered a cup of shrimp chowder. It was so spicy with the added chili powder that he couldn't eat it.

You can't get fish any fresher. This is the real deal with the restaurant being run by a local commercial fisherman and his wife. Great service. You can't find anything like this on the north shore. They also have smoke fish to die for.
