My first visit to Jalisco was on a recommendation from my realtor as the best Mexican Food in town. Boy, was she wrong. I thought it was the worst Mexican food I had every had at a resturant. I did not go back for years...after moving to Silver City. Then on of my friends invited me to Jalisco's for lunch. I had a burger, and it was much better than the Mexican food, but nothing special. I went there once more and tried the Mexican food again....no better than the first time. I would not say that all the food was terrible (chips and salsa were good), but I will never set food in the place again. The restaurant owners had a total disregard for the community, their staff and customers during the pandemic closure orders which they violated. Not to mention their total disregard for other restaurant owners in the city that were following the rules. Mi Casita and Country Kitchen have always had much better food and service than Jalisco. Unfortunately, neither are right downtown.More

We go hiking in Catron County once a year and have previously stopped here for decent (albeit not stellar, unlike in Cruces) green chile. This place was well known in Silver City for its Trumpish politics, which I don't care for, but ultimately I go...to a restaurant for the food. But today I learned in the paper that the owner is SUING Governor Lujan-Grisham over the governor's restriction on in-person dining during the COVID-19 pandemic. Shame on the Jalisco Cafe. I have two dear friends who died of coronavirus down in Valencia County, and several others around the state and country with severe cases. The virus is no joke. If this eatery cares so little about the public's health during COVID, how can I trust them to prepare food safely?More

They make a big show of supporting the fascist-in-chief who is trying to overthrow the will of the people. If this isn't enough to turn you off, the food is crappy. Think school lunch cafeteria. Avoid.

Food is good but we could do without the politics. Please get back to doing what you do best...serving decent Mexican food to the community. We're pretty much bored with your political grandstanding and will stay away until you lose that in-your-face attitude. Thanks George.

Silver City required a mask inside & out if your downtown. We order food over the phone for Pick up. When we went inside to get our food there were 2 hostess. One wearing her mask the other one it hanging down past her chin....She never pulled it up the whole time we were there. You could also see into the kitchen and the cook also had his mask hanging down under his chin as he was cooking. Another employee came out of the kitchen with no mask and all and said he was going to lunch. Good food but not following the rules. 10/20/2020More

Picked up take out. New Mexico cheese enchiladas and Chili Relleno. Mediocre at best. It was also cold when we picked it up, yet had to wait to receive. Best thing of the whole meal was the salsa and chips! Pretty sad!!

Great Mexican food. I will be back as soon as they open up again. In spite of this crazy Governor’s backlash against this very reputable business.

Terrible place. Food is not worth eating. Unpleasant people. Don’t go—really the most disappointing place I have seen in New Mexico.

Sorry, I’m not a vegetarian and didn’t ask. They can put Chile to the side on all dishes and they do have stuff on the menu such as bean and cheese burritos and tostadas.
