We lived in NYC 8 years and on this most recent trip decided to make a contest to find the best bagel in NYC. We tried Essa (great), Bagel & Schmear (good), food cart bagels (awful), Tal,and Bagel Express. Hands down the champion of the BEST BAGEL IN NYC is Mazzola Bakery in Carroll Gardens Brooklyn. Big, substantial bagel, crisp... More

Have been getting bread there for decades!!! AND...I now live in NJ. I make a point of stopping there any time I'm in Brooklyn. All of their breads are excellent. If you want a real treat, ask for a loaf of Lard Bread. It's a short stubby, peppery loaf, that's also stuffed with tiny chunks of pork, not sure if... More

Best in the neighborhood for proscuitto bread. Large pieces of moist, chewy ham. The crust dark, the inside nearly cheesy. They also have a delicious spinach stuffed bread and a nice olive bread. My corn muffin and iced coffee trial ended with both going into the garbage. No coffee flavor in the coffee and the interior of the muffin was... More

This is the only place to get Italian bread (and I am not Italian) in the hood. Not only that BUT when we buy a 6' hero for parties we only go to places that use their bread (Los Paisanos on Smith Street).

I grew up on Mazzola's Italian and Lard Bread and it is the best I ever tasted and believe me I have tried a lot. Even though I moved away from the neighborhood, I still go back often just to buy the bread. We have it fresh and when we take it home we freeze it. Even reheated this bread... More

this is one of the best bakeries i've ever visited. Amazing breads, especially the Italian peasant loaf. The lard bread is actually a prosciutto bread and while not healthy, one of the best things ever made to eat. Cookies are excellent too, but stay away from the croissants - it's just not their thing.

I am not surpised as New York City especially Brooklyn has The Best Italian Bread and this place is The Best of the Best in Italian Bread for sure !!! They make a Great Cup of Coffee as well and although it is a... More
