No need to review Lucali's. The effort reduces it to the "just like" status of most restaurants. Are people going to refuse an invitation to the French Laundry? Lucali's is special because their pizza is the essential quality of the food type--the best ingredients, exacting technique impeccably practiced, and carefully baked in a wood fired oven to the perfect symmetry... The pizza and calzone here are incredible and consistently delicious...but I've never dined in! There always a cattle-at-the-trough-like line at the door ever since Beyonde and Jay B ate there! Ordering food and picking it up through the charming and patient hostess Alex is such a breeze though. The food actually travels well unlike other transported pizzas. I'm not quite... More

Lucali was recommended to us by someone in the area. It is a quaint brick oven pizza place, with maybe 50 seats at most. The restaurant opens at 6pm, but people line up ahead of time...that's how good it is! They begin taking reservations at 5pm, so it is not a bad idea to get there around 4:30 or 4:45... More

A friend and colleague lives around the corner from here, and for a while he's been saying we had to go to Lucali. We finally had a chance to do so, and we went last night. All in all I'd say the pizza is very good. I see a ton of reviews on TripAdvisor claiming it's the best pizza they've... More

While this place is not for everyone, I love eating here! Go 1 hour before opening to put your name in. This will ensure that you eat during the first seating. Enjoy the neighborhood while waiting for the rest of your group to arrive. Buy a bottle of wine or some beers, since Lucali is BYOB (no corkage fee). Sit... More

Me and my friends went there for dinner...even though we had to wait for a hour outside in the cold since the place was packed and the waiting line was quite long, it was a perfect night.... pizzas there were super delicious..the cheese, the toppings and pizza crusts were to die for..small venue made it homey feel..fyi, they do not... Simply this is the best pizza Ive had. Arrived just after 6, and was told we would have to wait 1 hour for a table. No problem, went to the local bar and was called when our table was free. Straight forward menu, BYOD perfect. Shared a large pizza which was more than adequate - although now I am annoyed... More

We live within walking distance so we like to order it for pick-up. Atmosphere is not our thing, but the pizza excellent! While pie is the best I've ever had, and the crust has just enough crunch.

Ate here with friends and had an almost 2 hour wait time. Not being a huge fan of pizza, this place was amazing! The toppings are fresh/daily and the ambience is nice with BYOB. 100% coming here again.

Took the subway from Manhattan and then walked back over the Brooklyn bridge. Excellent experience for a couple of tourists from MN! We were encouraged to try this place by some locals and they were right on the money. We shared two calzones which were perfectly crusty, cheesy deliciousness and filled them with different toppings. Shared the leftovers with a... More
