This a neighborhood restaurant that recovered after the last big storm in NY. They've upgraded the decor to modern, yet authentic Turkish - indoors, with streetside seating available. Nice and pleasant, right on the Sheepshead Bay. The food is good, the prices are fair. It's our fall back place when we don't want to cook, just walk two blocks. I... More

Sheepshead Bay isn't exactly a culinary mecca, but we met friends here for dinner and were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. It was a hot night but nice enough that we were able to sit outside and enjoy the cool breeze off the bay. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share, and they were all fresh... More

Went there for lunch on a weekday and what a pleasant surprise--lovely restaurant, very nice setting, and we took advantage of their lunch menu specials. Food was very good--and I say that having lived and worked in Turkey, service was great, bread was incredible--freshly baked...the lunch special included starter, lentil soup, and main course (with side dishes included), fantastic bread.... Had a lovely time sitting outside across from the bay in good weather. Food here is exceptional. First there's the fresh Turkish bread served with olive oil, then yummy entrees such as fresh fried anchovies imported from the black sea. But the most exceptional is what they make for dessert. We had awesome seasonal candied pumpkin, sesame halvah and this... More

This is one of my very favorite restaurants. Every time I step inside, I want to book a trip to Turkey! The decor is beautiful, brick wall, pretty paintings and lighting. You can also opt to sit outside facing Sheepshead Bay, a nice choice in the summer. The waitstaff is friendly and the service good. We always order the shepherd's... More

My review that I submitted today was unfortunately listed for a restaurant with a similar name on 86 Street in Brooklyn. That happened because this restauramt does not list its name as Cafe Istanbul. This restaurant has consistently provided its customers the best prepared Turkish sea food and kebabs that I have ever tasted. The fish is fresh and the... More

I have eaten here before and have previously reviewed this restaurant. I ate lunch here this week , I ordered Lentil soup and fried anchovies for appetizers and lamb shiskebab as my entree. The lentil soup was nicely spiced and light. The fried anchovies were delightfully tasteful and slightly crisp. The lamb shiskebab was succulent , nicely marinated and cooked... More

This restaurant is by the waterfront in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, NY. The place has great ambiance with attractive decor. What is better is the seafood and shiskabob and attentive service. I most often order brazzino or the St Peters fish. The lamb shiskebob is so tender and tasty, it is often difficult not to eat 2 entrees. The appetizers are... More

Decent Turkish food, good-sized portions, reasonable prices, fast delivery. The portions, when part of the catering order are not large, I'd advise to order additional entries.

We planned to stop by for dinner after dropping some friends at JFK and we're glad we did. The lentil soup was great and the varieties they had for the main course were amazing. The mixed grill was tender and delicious with generous quantities. The meat bread (lahmajeen) was great. We ended up with Baklava that was fresh and not... More
