No frills diner, good 'ol fashioned classics

We timed it perfectly, just after the brunch rush and before lunch! We arrived at about 12 noon and got a booth for four straight away. All the classic diner options, we had burgers, scrambled eggs, pancakes, coke, apple juice, and coffees. Everyone left full and happy. Good value, lovely service, and no-frills approach.

Great local diner

I ordered an egg and bacon wrap, chocolate milkshake, cappuccino and orange juice for a takeaway breakfast. The food came quickly and it was all good, the milkshake especially. Only losing 1 star because the wrap was smaller than I expected, though very tasty!

Family Style Diner

We enjoyed lunch here after attending service at The Brooklyn Tabernacle. This restaurant was recommended to us by some of the members of the church, and it did not disappoint! Located just around the corner from Brooklyn Tabernacle Church, this is a family style diner with an extensive menu!!! Although they offer a wide variety of foods, no one in our party (which included both adults and children) had anything but good remarks about the food and service. The portions are large, so some of us shared. They also have a very good kid friendly menu & breakfast options (which was a huge hit for our youngest, who loves pancakes and all things breakfast foods!).

Solid Spot for a Good Breakfast

I have visited Brooklyn twice this year, once back in the spring and again this past weekend, and hit this spot for breakfast both times. Terrific omelet on each occasion, along with fast seating and great service (to echo some of the other positive reviews here). I would highly recommend it.

Closure of Popular Diner

The closure of The Apollo Diner took place on December 17, 2023. I cherish numerous fond memories from my time spent at this diner. The news came as a surprise to both the dedicated employees and loyal customers, with the reason cited being a rise in the rental cost.

Being at an intersection in downtown Brooklyn, this is one busy diner, but you’ll find a table. Every member of the staff will make you feel at home immediately. I had breakfast here multiple times, tried different choices, and was satisfied every single time.

My local neighborhood diner

This is ground zero for me in my neighborhood, I love it. A simple neighborhood diner with a large but simple menu. Wheelchair accessible and very spacious. The service is timely, plentiful and good. The food is tasty, well prepared and reasonably priced in my opinion. Ways busy with a nice mix of locals, business community and tourists in downtown Brooklyn. The food, service and atmosphere is very consistent.

Just came across this and so glad we went in. There aren't many old school diners like this anymore....Great friendly service, good portions, good prices and a HUGE menu...no frills, would recommend!

Classic diner - best breakfast option in downtown Brooklyn

We were staying in hotel nearby and ate nearly all of our breakfasts here. It's a classic old school diner. Comfortable atmosphere. Classic American breakfast menu done well. Nice service. Reasonably priced. Convenient place for a good breakfast for anyone staying at any of the nearby downtown Brooklyn hotels.

Great Breakfast

Breakfast was great. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious as was the veggie egg wrap. A pleasant surprise the availability of almond milk. The disappointment they only had Lipton tea. The staff were very pleasant.

Real diner with local people!

We were in NYC for 2 weeks. The first week we stayed in Brooklyn in the Hilton just across the street. We ate here most mornings. We kept coming back as the table staff were truly the gems of this diner. They greeted us like old friends. Topped up your coffee with a smile every time and waved from the window when we passed by later in the day. Food was not exceptional but tasty enough and filled you up ready for a day out in the busy city.

This diner is within walking distance to the Transit Museum. I sat in a banquette, and had a tuna fish sandwich as an entree, and a piece of chocolate layer cake for dessert.

Could not love this place more!

When me and my wife travel to New York we always try to find a proper American diner so we feel like we're having the proper American experience and this FANTASTIC diner gave it us in BUCKETS! We went there for breakfast 3 days out of our 4 day stay and WE LOVVVVVVED IT!!!!!! As is normal in these kind of places the food is always amazing and it always arrives really quickly (and the menu is huge!) but more than that, the New Apollo was just so INCREDIBLY friendly. The staff that seated us were always delightful and courteous, even on a really busy Easter Sunday but the waitresses were just WONDERFUL. We had the most FANTASTIC waitress who served us every day and she was just adorable and SO friendly. She genuinely treated us like old friends. Sadly we never got her name which I'm really regretful about as I would love to thank her personally but if anybody at the diner sees this I hope she knows that we loved her and that I'm the stupid Brit who ordered sweetcorn with my breakfast!!!!! Whoever you are THANK YOU AND WE LOVE YOU!!!!!! PLEASE try this diner if you're in Brooklyn. It's the BEST!
