I live a few minutes away from Puerto Viejo so I order once in a while when I want Spanish food. The food is always good. It depends on which app I use to order my food the delivery experience can be bad. If you go to the restaurant just know they take cash only.

Excellent Dominican restaurant in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. Great atmosphere and food. Recommend the Pernil & Yucca Puree. For desert, Tres leches was pretty good. Look for specials.

We had once again delicious food here, very authentic home cooking. Well served, very professional kind and welcoming staff. Mixed local crowd, laid back & great vibes. Would return anytime and highly recommend this place!

To tell you the truth, one of the best empanadas that I have ever tasted. The beef empanadas are to die for.

Visiting this place was bittersweet for me. Sweet because the food was good, in terms of flavor and the menu had a good selection of my dominican food. Bitter because everything was overpriced just because this place had the word “Bistro” in it. The decoration are great, it makes you feel like you are really in a puerto viejo, with old furniture and decorations. The service is nice I would say. I would visit again since is close to my house. Im a little glad Dominican food is getting more “fancier”.

The food and wine were excellent. I had a pork dish with rice and beans and salad. I’m very critical of restaurant food since I love to cook but the pork was well seasoned and tender. Also had appetizers, avocado based. They were beautifully arranged and delicious. The service was perfect.

Puerto Viejo is a restaurant that serves authentic Dominican food. If you are looking for consistent and delicious dishes packed with flavor, this is the place for you. My family and I have frequent this restaurant so many times they know my order before I even need to say it! I’ve been going here for a while and one thing I must say no matter how many times I get the same dish, it never fails! The flavors are there! The restaurant is small and quaint but fits the overall theme of it. Don’t let the location deter you from stopping in! The staff is very welcoming and it is family owned. It does get busy on Fridays and in the evening but going early in the day is your best bet. The appetizer platter is literally the best thing you can have if you want to sample different meats. This is a restaurant you do not want to pass up, give it a try and I guarantee you that you will be hooked! Don’t forget your dessert, flan that will not disappoint!

Wandering through this part of Brooklyn, you will not find tony sidewalk cafes or fancy signs. Car repair shops with vehicles blocking the sidewalks is more the style, but it is safe and friendly and entertaining. Once you settle into this place, however, you might as well be in food central: wonderful service, excellent food, and a hyped crowd that just appeared out of nowhere around 7 PM, poof! We completely enjoyed our experience, the waitress was a pro, swapping out sides at request without batting an eye, the food produced plentifully and promptly with tasty seasoning and all well prepared. Price is reasonable. All in all a fun place and well worth a go. We plan to return!

Great fun, food, energy, service, and price. We had a great night. Busy, but servers and host work had and have a good mood about them. It is a rustic, cramped, fun informal setting. Great diverse crowd and must have heard 4 birthday songs. We ate and ate, had wine and beer, lots of apps and the bill for 4 was $150! Love this joint.

Strolled down to this lovely neighborhood restaurant and was pleasantly surprised with the service, food, and prices! Dominican food with a awesome twist. We had Oxtail & Sweet Potato empanadas...OMG! They were delicious. Dinner was crispy boneless chicken with rice and beans. Delicious, but want a sauce for the chicken. Berry sangria to wash it down. REAL sangria and not that syrupy stuff. Sorry, no pic of the food :-(. Next time
