Strolled down to this lovely neighborhood restaurant and was pleasantly surprised with the service, food, and prices! Dominican food with a awesome twist. We had Oxtail & Sweet Potato empanadas...OMG! They were delicious. Dinner was crispy boneless chicken with rice and beans. Delicious, but want a sauce for the chicken. Berry sangria to wash it down. REAL sangria and not... More

Okay so I did rate this restaurant before but again I went to enjoy the atmosphere, the space--no shoulder to shoulder and butt to butt--not even at the community bar. So this time I got a picture of the food. It's so good and fresh, and you get plenty. I dove into the plate before I thought to take a... More

My friend took me to this neighborhood eatery for breakfast. At first I was intimidated by the menu listings as they were not in English- my only fluent language, but every item has a clear English description. Even if that hadn't been the case our waitress was so friendly and helpful, I'm sure I would have received any assistance necessary... More

Visited recently on an unusually warm November evening. We had to wait for seating, but the evening was pleasant. Once inside, we found a small, cozy, lively setting. Cheerful music and a good crowd. The food was delicious. We started with empenadas and had a pork dish as the main. It was delightful. We imagined that on a cold winter... More

Came here for lunch after visiting the Chile Pepper Festival in Brooklyn Botanical Garden where I sampled and loved their yellow hot sauce. It was a bit of a walk but found this place amid a number of auto shops. Had the roasted pork with boiled yuca and more of that great hot sauce. Boy, did I enjoy my meal.... More

This is by far my favorite restaurant in Brooklyn. My family is Puerto Rican so I grew up on amazing hispanic food and always have trouble finding anything as good when dining out, but this place is great! I recommend the pork dishes, mofongo, and churrasco but you really can't go wrong with anything. Only con is that it's cash... More

We visited on a date night. The restaurant was crowded but we had called ahead and were told our table would be ready in 15minutes. When we arrived we were seated shortly after. It's a very informal vibe. The seating were small tables, miss matched chairs was part of the ambiance. My chair was extremely uncomfortable I had to switch... More

i visited tues.oct.6 at 5 pm with 3 friends. Restaurant was practically empty. We asked to put together 2 tables for 2 or if we could sit at a table for 6. Both requests were denied.we were told we had to sit at the designated table. A little while later a family comes in and puts together 2 tables as... More

I arrived in NYC mid afternoon from the Dominican Republic and was please to stumble into Puerto Viejo. Beautifully decorated, great energy and ambiance. I was greeted by the Owner Señor Eduardo and his two sons Eduardo and Franklin. They graciously explained the wines and offered me one of the best sangria I have ever had! Since I'm always hungry,... There's a dish there involving ground beef, plantains, and cheese. It's a simple idea, but the flavors were unique since I'm an American. Great restaurant.
