This was our second visit in the last month. It's a very cool place with a big reputation (hard to get in etc). The food is really good and highly creative. It's a fun experience. EXCEPT, tonight the service was "cold", taking us for granted. Maybe our waiter had too many tables tonight or just an off night. The vibe... More

Arrived for Sunday brunch and expected something better. The menu was limited, in my view, and overly pretentious. The Bloody Mary was weak and blandly presented. The servers were in a freaking hurry, trying to rush us through. The bathroom was too dark and the experience in general was "meh". Overpriced, overhip, boring.

After a busy day touring Governors Island and the Whitney Museum and several places in-between, and having made the mistake of going to a tourist trap restaurant, my son found Colonie which was on our way back to our hotel in Brooklyn so we decided to walk in and give it a chance. What a stroke of luck. Excellent unique... More

Colonie is a very popular spot. We loved the atmosphere - lively, friendly, casual. The bar up front is bright with a standing area with a counter to set drinks down on in addition to the bar with seats. The dining area in the back is dark and bustling. Staff was very friendly both in the bar area and dining... More

Party of nine arrived for dinner at 8pm on a quiet Sunday night 7/3. Service to start was prompt, but someone dropped the ball with the dinner order. At first, it was "hmm..dinner is taking long" but at no point did anyone come over to explain the situaton, or ask if we wanted dirnks. It was only after we had... More

This could possibly be one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. I am a frequent diner and in fact have dined in many boroughs in NYC as it is good to get out of Manhattan.the hostess was very pleasant and accommodating as was the bartender but that is where it ended. Our server was inexplicably rude and... More

We took the subway from Manhattan to eat at this place and weren't disappointed. The cauliflower dish in particular was superb! Buttery, salty (anchovies & capers), nutty (as cauliflower is)... just great farm to fork food

After having read the comment of other people, I cannot help but wonder - did I visit the same place that they describe? For example, my burger was nothing like the one depicted on the picture a fellow trip advisor reviewer posted in August last year. It is not the looks that disappointed me - the taste, or lack of... On a recent weekend, a group of three friends were welcomed by the very friendly staff at Colonie at exactly 11.10 am, by which time the whole place was already full except for the last three bar seats. The bartenders were very good at their job, and the food was, overall, good, but not as exceptional as the crowds would... More
