I patronize BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) as frequently as I am able and, having been a loyal customer to this divine arts establishment over the years, I am always in search of a superb culinary experience - somewhere to dine in comfort before the show - and, I'm over-the-moon to say I have at last found it! Directly across... More

Ideal location if you go to (or have been) to the BAM. I have had a stronger tastier goulash in Germany but it wasn't bad. Very nice atmosphere and pleasant staff.

This is such a lovely restaurant just opposite the beautiful Brooklyn Academy of Music. There's instant atmosphere as you walk through the door and the staff are friendly and efficient. The food is sensational. The best fish I have ever eaten - and I've eaten some fish in my time. Not cheap but worth it. One gripe- only one washroom... More

Berlyn is extremely convenient for the Brooklyn Academy of Music and is probably the best restaurant right near by. The food is very good and the setting pleasant (if a bit kitschy). The staff was all very pleasant and they work hard to get you to your show on time (though I recommend getting there at least an hour before... More

Right across the theater of BAM this restaurant serves German cuisine. I had a goulash that was not over the top (missed bell pepper and was a little watery to my taste), my husband was very happy with his dish. Very friendly and quick staff. I would come back here for the location is superb across the theater. Nice bar... More

This lively and warm restaurant was a great post-theatre dinner spot. It is right next to BAM and the Theater for a New Audience. The kitchen is open late and I can HIGHLY recommend the Goulash. I wish I hadn't ordered the enormous bowl of split pea soup - which was delicious, but certainly wasn't a "small plate" as described... More

We stopped in for a quick drink and dessert after a walk throughout Brooklyn. An after BAM crowd for sure. Friendly environment with interesting décor, the strudel hit the spot! Service was quick and efficient. A great way to end an evening. The tables next to us were having full dinner and the food looked great! On my next visit,... More

We were lucky to snag a table at this small crowded restaurant due to someone cancelling their reservations. The decor was smart German cozy mixed in with a Brooklyn vibe. Food and drink selections were surprisingly good. I have not frequented any German restaurants in Manhattan so was ignorant of the cuisine. The assortment and flavors were spectacular!

Saw that Berlyn was near BAM venues and highly recommended -- now I know why! Such a beautifully appointed bar and dining room -- evocative of Germany and so comfortable. The paprika potato chips with blue cheese dip is heavenly. The dip sauce is amazing and I'd return for it alone. The weiner schnitzel is crisp and succulent-- served with... More

We were headed to a performance at BAM and decided to stop in for a pre-theatre something. Since we did not make a reservation, (a must I would recommend), there were 2 seats at the bar. This place was so cute and adorable! The bartender was awesome! He knew what to fix for you based upon what your tastes maybe.... More
