Everyone is crazy about this place that is why I went. I was very disappointed with the service and coffee. Poor quality coffee, could be greatly improved.

My second visit to Cocoa Grinder reminded me that this is a great place to have a hot beverage and to hang out. The chai tea ($2 for medium size) was excellent. What really differentiates this place is the bright sunlight. It is on the...northeast corner with big windows so that you get brilliant sunlight in the afternoon. Much different than the darkness of most coffee shops. Staff is friendly in an easy going non-intrusive way. Tables are nicely spaced out. Crowd looks interesting with romantic couples, guys with voluminous beards sensitively writing in notebooks, and spirited young people in hajibs. Feels bohemian and reflecting the range of people who live in Bay Ridge. This is a spirited destination in Bay Ridge.More

Was pretty busy but wow, expected better for how it looked. Looks like cool coffee shop, but on par with diner coffee. Sorry, go to matter or cream.

This is a coffee shop that serves good coffee and offers healthy breakfast and lunch options. The ambiance is calming. The staff is engaging and helpful. Keep in mind that the food is fresh and cooked on the spot, so be prepared to wait.

This casual little gem has fantastic coffee and fantastic food! My husband and I were in a nearby hotel for two days, and were so glad we discovered it. The first visit, I had the black bean omelet with onion and cilantro and my husband...ordered the lox omelet. They were so delicious, we returned the next day and ordered the same thing! Friendly employees, too.More

We were looking for a breakfast spot in the Bay Ridge. To my pleasant surprise, they had many great options! Cocoa Grinder is not a restaurant but more of a coffee shop that also serves healthy dishes. The inside is flooded with natural light, thanks...to the floor-to-ceiling windows. They have a nice, relaxing, open space with good amount of seating. We ordered a couple of different drinks. The first one was Grinders CoCoa. It was very nice cup of hot cocoa, silky smooth and velvety. I could taste the real cacao flavor, super tasty. Another one was Latte. At Cocoa Grinder, they roast their own coffee, so the quality and flavor was excellent. As for food, we ordered Loxie Lox, Peanut Butter Banana Stuffed French Toast, and Poachy Poach. The omelette had a generous amount of smoked salmon, with perfect salty flavor. French Toast was a good portion, I liked how it was stacked like some pancakes. Poachy Poach was maybe the most simple item of all three. The amount of smoked salmon was not as much as I wanted... This item was the least exiting dish of all three. It was good, but it was just a-ok. overall, we had a nice breakfast here with their health-conscious menu and tasty coffee. The staffs were nice and polite, and I enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. Since they open early enough and have good amount of food menu, it is a nice breakfast spots when you are on the go.More
