I had soft-shelled crab (2) served with lettuce and French fries and my spouse had scallops served with mashed potatoes and carrots. Both dinners very good, but I though my crabs were a little over cooked. They did not serve any alcoholic beverages.

I was first introduced to Petite Crevette 3 years ago and have returned at least twice a year since. From the first meal to my latest, just last night, I have yet to be disappointed. The fish is always fresh, simply prepared, and never overdone....The accoutrements, usually mashed potatoes (real mashed potatoes, not from a box) and crisp sautéed vegetables are simple allowing the fish to remain the central focus of the meal. BYOB with $5 corkage makes this spot an easy choice for a weeknight dinner. For me one of the most attractive aspects of the Petite Crevette is the relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere. The decor has the comfortable feel of a friend’s well worn living space where you can feel at home while out for dinner. Even when the restaurant is full, I have never experienced the ear splitting din resembling a high school cafeteria that is so common in many restaurants. The staff is always friendly, attentive, and helpful. When in Brooklyn this is my go to spot for consistently good seafood in a relaxing and unpretentious atmosphere.More

I went there with my friend to have dinner. The food was good. We had both a waiter and a waitress. The waiter was good, however the waitress made us feel unwelcome from the beginning until the end. She even finally told us to leave...because she had other customers waiting. I had never experienced to be rushed at a restaurant when I am trying to enjoy my food and wine (that we brought). ILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN! P.s Cash only place.More

This place has been around for sometime. Haven't stopped in for over 10yrs. Was pleasantly surprised. Everything was fresh. The seafood soup was great and service from Uli I think her name was was warm & welcoming.

Been twice. Both times felt that there is a strong emphasis on putting out a meal that tastes home cooked. Feels like you have gone to a holiday meal at a relative’s who knows a little more than you about cooking. It is bring your...own bottle so that saves on overall cost which helps to go for more expensive plates. It sort of has a hidden gem vibe. Physically, the inside and the outside seem unrelated. The decor is reminiscent of a relative’s house who is slightly essentric. Looking forward to going a third time.More

The fish is very well done here, I had softshell crabs the last time I went here and really enjoyed them. It's not inexpensive, but you bring your own bottle, so save that way. Petite Crevette is nestled in a very small (eclectically decorated) space,...and so don't go there if you want to have that important conversation in private.More

Corn crab chowder at $10 a bowl was nothing more than bland cream soup, hardly a taste of crab. Sautéed snapper was ok but at $28 not exceptional. Haricot salad was no big deal. Doubt that I'll give this one a second try.

Located just over the BQE from Carroll Gardens, this miniature fish restaurant is a can't miss for us. The fish is extraordinarily fresh, the service thoughtful and pleasant, and the bill incredibly reasonable! And, best of all, it's BYO! But boy can it be tight...seating, especially in the front! You can order with complete confidence across the menu. No reservations and cash is the order of the day. But you will be very happy!More

I went back to this restaurant and brought some special friends with me. We had another wonderful experience. I was so excited as they had the soft shell crab and that is my favorite along with one my friend's favorite. We ordered the soft shell...crab and the salmon. For dessert we ordered the cherry tart and the berry tart, all of which was excellent from beginning to end. The owner had a brilliant idea to have BYOB, making the dishes very affordable. We brought two bottles and wine and had a very memorable dinner. Ulli took care of us and she is a delight. We also went down the street on the corner and had some after dinner drinks at their House of the Flying Lobster, it was fun.More

My husband and I went to Petite Crevette for a special celebration and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is very small, does not take reservations, is B.Y.O.B. and is cash only! With all of those elements, it's affordable, but often hard to get into,...with lines of folks outside waiting to get in. We were lucky and walked right in, got a table for two at the window and were immediately treated like old friends. The waiter was attentive without hovering and offered suggestions upon request. The menu is posted on a chalkboard on the wall and specials were verbally provided, including prices (not often the case and much appreciated). We started with a shared fresh mozzarella and heirloom tomato salad that was fresh and filled with summertime flavors. I had the special - soft shell crabs (2) - they were plump, juicy, fresh and incredible delicious. My husband had roasted sea bass and was thrilled with the generous portion and delicate flavors of the sauce and sides. We ended our meal with a flour-less chocolate cake topped with a perfectly un-sweetened dollop of whipped cream. The consistency was perfect, not dry or muddy - a lovely end to a romantic evening. We can't wait to return and will happily wait on line if necessary - it's worth it!More

I really wanted to love this place; it is so quaint and cute! It's a BYOB, so don't forget the wine! In a nutshell: the menu was rather limited and food was average. It also wasn't the traditional French food that I was expecting. The...place is tiny and very cramped. Service was good. I can't say I hated the place, nor did I love it. Somehow it did not meet my expectations.More

The food was very good but I would not say excellent. The service was excellent . Brooklyn has so many choices fine dining it is hard to separate yourself from all the other great places. The restaurant is very small and some would say intimate....It was slightly noisy. The mustard encrusted salmon was wonderful but the highlight was the burger with frites.More

We have loved dining at this charming, intimate restaurant since the day it opened. The personable chef/owner is always on hand for friendly conversation. The food is delicious. The fish is fresh. There are always wonderful choices. With restaurant wine prices so high these days,...the BYOB policy is definitely a plus.More
