Dining on the streets might be the silver-lining of the pandemic. Surely, the inside of this gem looks amazing, full of color, and authenticity. But, that's what you get from sitting on the sidewalk, under their umbrellas, surrounded by lights, and the colorful scene flowing...all around on this lively block wedged between Flatblush Avenue and Prospect Park in Lefferts Gardens. You will be treated with respect and care. The menus, fitted between paint-splattered vinyl records, match the sweet array of tunes spinning from the speakers. And the menu offers an eclectic and unique taste of Guatemala. While I only enjoyed brunch here, I would return in a heartbeat to sample the soups, the hot chocolates, and so much more. What a special place!More

I had dinner here recently with my wife and her boss (who lives in NYC). We wanted a place serving tasty food in an informal setting, and Ix provided both in spades. The place is small and cozy, with warm colors and fun music. The...staff is friendly and helpful with suggestions, and we enjoyed all of the dishes we chose. Standouts were the sliders and stews, especially the Ají Amarillo.More

They really have a place in my heart, you can't go wrong with them. Great drinks (try the chocolate frappe!), great food and amazing staff!

Yes, the menu has options for all tastes. Sandwiches and salads are delicious. They have tasty items for vegans, plus they can adjust some of their dishes for vegans and others. But we went on a rainy afternoon after visiting the Brooklyn Museum, so most...of us in the group (5 out of 6) went for the soups: Jocón, Qichón, Caldo Tlalpeño Rojo, Caldo Ix, and Pepian. What a great experience Ix Restaurant was! The place is small and cozy, and we thought it would not be a good choice for a table of six. We were wrong; we called and they graciously accepted our reservation. We felt warm and welcomed. Even Chef Jorge Cárdenas came out to greet and to tell us about the dishes. The mimosas--I started with a mango tango-are wonderful so are the sangria and the few beers listed in the menu (by the way, beer goes great with some of the soups, especially the spicy ones). The broth, the fresh ingredients, the layers of flavors: we were in food Nirvana. We kept passing the soups around so we could try them all. We started with some appetizers, and the hot figs (with honey goat cheese, blue corn, tortilla, plum puree, and pumpkin seeds) were a hit at our table. The soups are very well served so if you have appetizers, you may want to share instead of ordering one per person. That way you'll have room for the delicious desserts: try the Rosemary Churros with dulce de leche. Our waiter was a sweetheart; the service was friendly, professional, and prompt. And the restaurant is just a few steps from the subway station (Prospect Park). Can't wait to go back. (ah, and if you want to go crazy with options, ask for the hidden menu).More

We recently ate at Ix for the first time and will definitely be back soon! The Jocom and Pepian (mayan stews) had amazingly rich and complex taste. The churros were the best!!!! - perfect crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside and with...the perfect amount of sugar and cinnamon sprinkled on the top. The ambient was warm and stylish at the same time, and best of all was the service, as everyone was extremely friendly and efficient.More

This cafe definitely deserves a visit! Great service and food. I had the amazing Mayan hot chocolate, which is unlike any I've had before. It's not too bitter or sweet, just inexplicably delicious. I also had the plaintains with a semi-sweet mole sauce, which was...better than any other mole I've had in the States. Unfortunately, I had already had lunch, so I didn't get to try other things on the menu, but I've got my eye on the pork belly and kimchi sandwich. Hope to be back to try it soon!More

Incredible! Fantastic service, very friendly staff. I was super excited to have Pepian again, which I had only once in Guatemala a few years ago and absolutely loved. Obviously a bit different than what I had before, but similar enough to take me back! Despite...that, I’d say the cacao drink was the stand out. We had iced cardamom rosemary iced cacao, and I enjoyed it so much I wanted another to go. I was also in desperate need of a caffeine hit and they were nice enough to make me a cacao frappe with espresso which was the most amazing mocha I ever had. My recommendation would be to make this a permanent frappe option.More

Super cute little cafe near Prospect Park. Omlette was delicious, and the bakery items looked absolutely incredible! Definitely worth a stop.

This is one of the new places in the gentrified part of flatbush by prospect park. They have Mexican food and its also a good place to watch sports.
