Yes, the menu has options for all tastes. Sandwiches and salads are delicious. They have tasty items for vegans, plus they can adjust some of their dishes for vegans and others. But we went on a rainy afternoon after visiting the Brooklyn Museum, so most...of us in the group (5 out of 6) went for the soups: Jocón, Qichón, Caldo Tlalpeño Rojo, Caldo Ix, and Pepian. What a great experience Ix Restaurant was! The place is small and cozy, and we thought it would not be a good choice for a table of six. We were wrong; we called and they graciously accepted our reservation. We felt warm and welcomed. Even Chef Jorge Cárdenas came out to greet and to tell us about the dishes. The mimosas--I started with a mango tango-are wonderful so are the sangria and the few beers listed in the menu (by the way, beer goes great with some of the soups, especially the spicy ones). The broth, the fresh ingredients, the layers of flavors: we were in food Nirvana. We kept passing the soups around so we could try them all. We started with some appetizers, and the hot figs (with honey goat cheese, blue corn, tortilla, plum puree, and pumpkin seeds) were a hit at our table. The soups are very well served so if you have appetizers, you may want to share instead of ordering one per person. That way you'll have room for the delicious desserts: try the Rosemary Churros with dulce de leche. Our waiter was a sweetheart; the service was friendly, professional, and prompt. And the restaurant is just a few steps from the subway station (Prospect Park). Can't wait to go back. (ah, and if you want to go crazy with options, ask for the hidden menu).More
