I have eaten at a couple of restaurants in California that were said to be serving Cuban cuisine, and I was not impressed, but this place, in Fairbanks Alaska of all places, served up unforgettable food. The people added to the enjoyable experience. The chef...also took our orders and served our food. While he was understandably pressed for time, he still took enough time with us to make a personal connection. It was an very enjoyable dinner.More

We just arrived in Fairbanks today and couldn’t wait to try this place. We read about it in several blogs and other forums (and it was on DDD!), but had to check it out for ourselves. This place is amazing. First let’s start with the...warm welcome. We loved talking with Chef Rico and his wife. They make a great team. They answered all of our questions and never made us feel rushed. They just make you feel like you have known them for a long time. Now the food. We started with the Tapas and fresh bread. The broth that the steak wrapped olives comes in is phenomenal. I could’ve made a meal with that broth and the bread. For the mains we had a combination of the Pasta con Camarones, Steak Cuban Churrasco Style, Piri Piri Chicken, and the Lechon Boricua Pork (there was 6 of us, so no judging). Every dish had amazing flavor. Each dish was fresh and tasted like it was prepared by someone who cares. Fantastic start to our stay in Fairbanks and the surrounding areas.More

My hubby and I went to eat here on 9/20 and it was amazing. We are here, like everyone, to see the Aurora. We are usually really healthy and this place was an oasis. The food is done with local and organic when possible. The...balance of flavors was on point. Nothing was too spicy. It was all seasoned in a way that brings out the flavors and enhances the dish, it doesn’t cover anything up. He was very personable. The staff was kind and attentive. We highly recommend. In fact, we may go back tonight! Also, they have live music on Friday and Saturday. Check them out!More

Location downtown, with lots of other restaurants around.... Cosy small restaurant; Service was a bit slow - seemed to be only one Server for the entire restaurant.. so had a short wait to be seated, but great once we were in.. great food, kudos to...the Chef. We ordered 2 mains, the Spicy Shrimp Pili Dongo, absolutely delicious; also the Lomo de Puerco, excellent... quite reasonably priced totalled US $ 78 for 2 beers & 2 mains.... It has a place for a live band - the staged area takes up almost 20% of the restaurant - however there was no live group on the day we went, even thought the restaurant was full!More

My wife arranged this birthday dinner for me when on our Alaskan vacation. The place in Fairbanks is a small bistro style restaurant that specializes in Cuban dishes. The shrimp cocktail was absolutely delicious and a meal by itself!! My wife had the salmon entree...and I had the pork entree. Both were swimming with flavors we hadn’t experienced before. The owner was very personal and a delight to talk to. I would definitely put this on your restaurant list when in Fairbanks!!!More

We saw Jazz Bistro on DDD food show on tv and knew we had to visit on our vacation to Alaska! The owner Rico met us at the door and made us feel welcome from the minute of his 1st smile! Started with wine and...a shrimp appy that was great. I had the Halibut with Rico's special sauce and the wife had the salmon cuban style dinner. Both were fabulous, and Rico continued to check in and enlighten us with his humor and conversation. We finished with the tres leche cake which was the best we have ever had. This was a delightful night with incredible food. Rico and staff deserve all of the accolades that Guy Fieri gave them and this is a must stop in Fairbanks Ak!More

We enjoyed our dinner and meeting Lenora and Chef Rico! Cuban music playing via video made for a lively atmosphere. Wish we could have heard Rico live on the weekend! Hubby and I shared the spicy flank steak and a salad. Really enjoyed the Cuban...spices! Would definitely come again!More

We chose this spot for our one night stay in Fairbanks. Chef Rico didn’t disappoint. Hubby had Lechon Boricua and I had Pollo con Crema. Well seasoned and delicious. We complimented with Mango and Guava juice. The background Cuban music provided a lively ambiance. Well...done!More

Amazing food, incredible service, great vibe and atmosphere, and it was affordable which we love. Chef waited on us himself and was an absolute pleasure to visit with. We are so thankful we stumbled upon this place. We were wandering around downtown Fairbanks looking for...a place to eat. I searched for food nearby and found this with its Cuban food and 5-star rating. We were half a block away so we decided to stop by. I can’t believe we chanced upon a gem like this! We got lucky, but it would be well worth your time to go out of your way for. Many thanks, Chef! We’ve been raving about it ever since.More

All four of us had different meals. The sliced beef meal I had was very tasty. My wife had shrimp in a pasta sauce and she thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Our friends had the salmon and a spice shrimp dish. Caution, the shrimp is very...spicy, but ask for the cream sauce on the side and dip the shrimp in it. It was outstanding. All four of us highly recommend this establishment for a different type of meal in the great North West.More
