Foode (and Fredericksburg) is well worth a trip from either Richmond or D.C. The food, ambience and service are outstanding and are all provided in a laid back style. The building dates from 1820s when it was the Fredericksburg Farmer's Bank. The restaurant - recently...More

While visiting Old Town on a Saturday afternoon we wanted to eat somewhere off the beaten path. Foode was perfect. It is located in a former bank building and has large plank wooden floors and cozy but private seating including tables in the former vault....More

We had a really great meal, and couldn't believe that it was a) farm-to-table, and b) so cheap. I had a curry chicken salad sandwich with potato salad, and my only regret s that I should have taken it off of the bread. That salad...More

I love this restaurant. Joy (the owner and chef) always has something unique to offer, and the menu changes fairly frequently. Since they've moved to the historic bank, it's even better -- much better atmosphere. You won't be sorry you tried it.

Dining in historic Fredericksburg is always a delight. Foode is directly across the street from a church where Clara Barton, founder of the American Red Cross, tended to wounded soldiers during the Civil War. Foode is in an old building that has been beautifully restored...More

Ate there last summer with a friend--service was poor and the food was not impressive. Took several tries to get everything we ordered. They just moved into the old PNC building--decor is cute--enjoyed sitting in the old vault, but it was very noisy and we...More

After visiting Monticello and then the University of Virginia, my wife and I mapped our return to the Washington D.C. area through Fredericksburg. After touring certain places of interest around and in Fredericksburg (e.g., Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park, James Monroe Museum), we choose...More

Nice selection of tasty food. Service was fast. Limited menu. We tried a few of the apps as we were not very Hungry. All were very good. Menu listed many local dishes with locally aquired ingredients and meats.

Everything we had was very fresh. My wife and I had egg salad on greens. There was probably a half dozen eggs in each of our meals. Converted bank. Complete with the vault.

Questions & Answers
We were there on Saturday July 1st around 6:pm for dinner. We were a party of 7. It was a new menu.Seems as if the menu has completely changed. A member of our group ordered the 'porterhouse' from the menu thinking it was porterhouse as in steak, When the food was brought to the table the server said 'pork chop' and we stated that no one ordered a pork chop. It was sent back to the kitchen and a few minutes later brought back out and said that that was the porterhouse. After a few bites the member of our party realized it was pork and not beef. He does not eat pork due to religious convictions. He traded with another member of our party who had ordered fish. After dinner the member of our group could not finish her meal of pork so asked to have it in a doggy bag. All plates were removed and a 'go home' container was delivered to the table but minus the left over pork. We mentioned it to our server and she went to check and returned saying the plate had been put in the trash. We also mentioned to our server about the wording of the menu that indicated 'porterhouse' but no mention of pork. I think the majority of people believe porterhouse to be an indication of beef. THE MENU SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLEARER! we were given a 20% off the 'porterhouse' meal because the left over had been trashed. New building, new menu, not the good old FOODE.

No question is a dumb question. Your friend should have asked the server to explain the dish if they weren't 100% sure with what they were ordering.... Foode is a hip menu and people go there for that very reason. That is... More

They are a local independent restaurant and I would call them. I assume they would be able to take your credit card information over the phone and mail a gift certificate to you or directly to your recipient. 540-479-1370
